I don't expect all that much FF/KH overlap really - Kingdom Hearts Factor was like the biggest factor ever for a reason, it introduced those characters to a new fanbase. The KH fanbase should be notably different.

Oh, and the stats topic overreaction RBY talk reminded me of that sig bet :)

After a round and a half, I've gotta give KH the clear advantage. I don't think MGS2 could have put such a beatdown on Vice City, and the way KHII (which I don't think is on the original's level) stayed with RE4 really reaffirmed that this series has some serious pop.

And just remember... Mega Man put up 58% on Mario Kart, and we've pretty much confirmed that SMK and MK64 would blow up any single Mega Man game. Metal Gear Solid put up 58% on Kingdom Hearts...

Oh, there's no doubt in my mind KH beats MGS2 straight up. The question is if FFX affects KH to the point MGS2 wins. KH is probably closer to FFX than it is to MGS2, so it may be safe.

Yeah 1v1 I'd take KH over MGS2. FFX being there makes it iffy though.

MGS doesn't look as strong as I thought though, and I'm still set that MGS2 is the weakest in the series sooooo

Looks like OoT is going to end up tripling StarCraft by the time this thing is said and done. Just for kicks, StarCraft being at 25% in the 2004 stats puts it with the likes of GoldenEye, FFTA, and SFII, and below Mario RPG, KOTOR, and FFT.

Of course, those stats are beyond worthless.

I think both KH benefited from standing out in their 4-packs. This time around there's another Square game, and I think that's going to have plenty of crossover to allow MGS3 through.

In fact, I think there's a better chance of MGS3 > FFX than FFX > KH. Neither seem very likely though.

Well, some people thought FFVIII had a shot, though it's not lookin' that great here. Brawl and TP are contenders as well, but that's still debatable.

Oh, and Mario 1, too, I guess, depending on how much stock you want to put into it.

MGS3 beat WoW 60/40, and I don't think ToS or Oblivion are anything more than marginally stronger than WoW, if they are at all. MGS2 got 38% on FFX, and I think MGS3 > MGS2, so saying MGS3 gets 40%+ on FFX is very plausible.

I still don't see why RBY couldn't be a top 10 game, though it looks much less likely now that all the Mario games did so well and RBY showed it isn't leagues beyond GS.

Eh, I would take both ToS and Oblivion to have close-but-comfortable wins over WoW, so can't say I agree there.

Tonight's match should tell us something. MGS3 is probably only a little above MGS2.

If Mario World is getting exposed next round, I see no reason why all the Mario games wouldn't get exposed too. It really wouldn't be shocking if they all went down to their round 1 levels. We're still pretty far from the point where we can definitely say what the top 10 is. With a 4-way bracket, we might never get there.

O god not another Pokemon discussion. Complete waste of time.

On SMW, it can't get "exposed" next round because it's situation is pretty horrific. Not FF1 bad, but bad. Losing next round to FF4 should mean nothing to anyone about it's strength. I don't think it'll even truly compete with FF4, but that doesn't mean the game isn't a monster.
