Zelda's best bet is hoping for both Pokemon games to get similar black and white pictures while it gets a cool Link pic. Starcraft's best bet is probably to hope for a goofy FFVIII and awesome Vivi picture.

I have no faith in newer games beating older, established games. They just don't have comparable fanbases, imo.

Nostalgia is a huge force in these contests, and new games do not have that. That's why I can see Goldeneye easily beating MGS4 (unless fanbase votes kills it, but I don't think that would happen here), and Goldeneye beating SSBB (fanbase votes might push SSBB over Goldeneye though).

Lufia's number is based on CT, not Yoshi's Island.

The final x-stats lists for 4-ways are quite honestly worse than my v-stats from yesterday. X-stats remain useful when extrapolating through a small number of matches where common sense says that they are applicable, but the final extrapolated standings have been unmitigated disasters both of the last 2 years.

FFVII may pull 60% updates overnight, but OOT isn't getting 60% updates during the ASV unless it wins by a big margin. There are way too many votes in the ASV for OOT to dominate it that much and the match to still be close.

I just want to see a FFVII/OoT post-final match, but I know we never will. Bacon probably worries that it'll ruin the integrity of the contest if Ocarina can reverse the result.

Tifa got 60% updates on Samus, I believe. Zack got a 57% hour on Mario. So FFVII can get a few 60% updates in the dead zone and still lose.

But, you also have an impossibility. As even with LoZ in the poll, SMB 3 is not touching ALttP. Especially if ALttP just managed to do the impossible and go ALttP>FF VII.

That's a load and you know it. FFI and FFIV aren't on the same system. Are you saying FFIV overlaps more with Mario World than it does with FFI?

I think FF1/FF4 basically proved that Same Series SFF/LFF is the worst (which should've been common knowledge, regardless). It was the exception, not the norm, but...damn.

Well, I'm saying that it's stronger when you combine it with another type of LFF. Same console + same company > just same series. I'd also expect way more overlap between LttP and Super Metroid than Super Metroid and Metroid Prime. Several different types of SFF/LFF coming together should have the biggest impact.

Super Metroid and Metroid Prime wouldn't have as much SFF because they are not on the same console, it's because they are a different genre in which different people enjoy. There is nothing separating LttP and LoZ besides a console.

I'd like to think LoZ holds up decently, at least better than FF1 held up to FF2/4. I definitely think the original LoZ means a lot more to LoZ-fans than the original FF does to FF-fans... but then again, LoZ-fans care a lot more about LoZ:LttP than FF-fans care about FF2/4 and it's the definitive 2D-LoZ game. Also, with SMB3 in there, that will complicate things for the NES-fans LoZ needs to stand strong at all there.

LoZ should hold up since it's got its own fans, but LoZ:LttP and SMB3 are both Top Five games that will limit LoZ quite a bit...so, I dunno. I'll fear the worst and hope for the best for LoZ; it could go either way, but I think you gotta assume LoZ gets crushed badly.
