Is it sad that buying GameFAQs is one of the things I'd do if I ever became stupidly rich?

Being stupidly rich means you get to do stupid things with your money. Though I assume you don't view the purchase as a money making opportunity.

I would have very little interest in a best fictional character contest. I don't care about Gamefaqs' opinions on fictional characters; I do care about Gamefaqs' opinions on video games.

This. Its a video game site, not a site about movie and book characters.

I actually like the tag battle idea the best of any idea I've seen. It's basically 1v1 with a new set of entrants.

The tag team idea is interesting. The biggest problem is that a lot of people's favorite characters are going to end up paired with a weak partner. Anyway, I think a Mario/Crono team could do pretty well.

SMK's done very well -- here's to hoping it follows through. I didn't expect this to happen after how SM began with the opening hours and the lower vote totals...damn, Metroid.


Also, to chime in on why we don't care for a lot of close matches anymore, I think a lot of it is how these topics are repetitively flooded with accusations of cheating toward each game involved as they have long epics like this. With no names being said, it doesn't help that one of the worst people for this particular problem is around the topic all the time and only adds to it. This is on top of the less legitimate nature of four-ways and how battles for second place are much less exciting than battles for first AND ignoring the problems with this particular bracket.

(by the way, the problem with this particular close match is that we've just seen SM/SMK fight last round; a great thing about one-on-one brackets is that we aren't seeing rematches in literally EVERY match from R2 onward)

I'll probably be here awhile despite all that, but if we'd all chill out when we're fortunate enough to actually get a close match instead of trying to feed gas to the fire, we can probably enjoy the close matches and this format in general more than we have been in the past.

Tag battle would force some people to make painful decisions.

Like Vincent/Crono vs Samus/Pikachu. I'd love to have Crono win but that would mean Vincent, the ff7 character i hate most would also advance.

For the upcoming match, I wouldn't completely write-off Sonic 2 as having no chance of advancing here. Here's why:

1. I think a game which got first place in round 1 should be stronger than a game that failed to get second. This is why I think Sonic 2 is stronger than MMX.
2. Sonic 2 will have EUROPEFEAR on its side, something which MMX was severely lacking.
3. LA will suck overnight because of Asia. Sonic 2 just needs to keep this one close until we hit the dead zone.
4. I simply think that MMX's performance is indicative of its raw strength. MMX got 44% on LA and I don't think it was SFFed there. In a Link/Mega Man match, Link would be clearing 60% easily.

Sonic 2 has a shot at pulling off the upset.
