This match would be better if we hadn't seen this exact thing last round, except put the two games, what, 400 votes closer and toss in LttP making both look bad.

It's hard to get excited about all-day stalls. We need big time comebacks like Sandbag/Magus to really get excited about anything in this format, honestly.

I think the only long stall match I'm interested in was Crono/Vincent II because Crono's epic day stall just made absolutely no sense. But even then, had it not been for Crono's comeback at the end, the stall would probably have meant nothing to me.

Yeah but this is a repeat match between two games fighting for a VERY distant second place. It's also been abundantly clear for hours Mario Kart would win.

CT/LttP was the one match where I did. Partly because CT is one of my favorite games, partly because it was a match that mattered with games that mattered. Super Metroid and Mario Kart fighting for second to lost next round -- who cares?

I don't think so. The small SMK uptrend looks over. The last hour has been a stall slightly favoring Metroid. If this continues, the edge goes to Samus unless Kart really fights (gets rallied) at the end.

As for stalls, I thought we were talking about in the 4-way format. Not that I would put LttP/CT in the Top 5 matches anyway.

Mario Kart won the last hour last time, and big. Metroid isn't going to make up a 70 vote gap and then build some unbeatable lead before 11 pm.

And Albion has been trying (and failing) to recreate his old status for four years and counting. Too bad the old vote-stuffing methods don't work and he has to rely on basic rallying these days.

And for some reason, all day back-and-forth affairs are much more exciting in a one-on-one environment. Matches like Frog/Liquid and CT/LTTP were thrilling.

Actually, I think matches like this are boring because insta-updates are gone. You have to wait five minutes to see if anything happened. That's part of what made Kefka/Vercetti epic. We would have never known about those BARRIERS with 5 minute updates.

Yeah, I know people like Ulti are against it and want even 15 minute updates back, but it makes matches like this boring.

Both are right.

Super Metroid won overall during the last 2 hours, but SMK won the last hour, just not enough to cancel out what Metroid did beforehand.

LA: 25%
Sonic 2: 22%

Without looking at what they all got last round. LA might be a bit higher at FF6's loss.

10:59:02 - Metroid leads by 241

In a prolonged stall match, I consider 90 votes in an hour pretty big. And tonight, way more people want Mario Kart to win than in Round 1.

anyway, this was Super Metroid's hour last time, so maybe we'll get a close match. but I'm skeptical of following the trends of that match because it was so damn weird.

The contest is boring because:

A) Too much turbofodder crap got in because of 128 entrants
B) Games are once again separated by generation, meaning we miss great potential matches like Mario World vs Brawl for example
C) Now that we have a handle on where these games are, the rest of the contest is pretty predictable
D) 4-ways completely defeat the purpose of seeing which game is better because of all the SFF.

There was no instant updates in Kefka/Cetti

According to this page, there were:

http://board8.wikia.com/wiki/Tommy_Vercetti_vs_Kefka_2005

At around 12:30 AM EST, CJayC implemented updates on the poll, and right in the middle of a match. This was a clear sign that something odd was going on, and a few people started calling for Vercetti's victory fanfare already. Unlike 2002/2003, the poll updates were in five minute increments rather than fifteen.

In the 3 years we have done this god awful format, I have two, literally two matches which I would even put top 20 matches all time. And they both involved a fun little rat and Crono (though Pikachu was not important in the least in the second, just kind of there).

Crono>Pikachu>L Block>The Plan
Samus>Crono>Vincent>Save Us Rat.

And it is probably stretching it to put the first one up there, since the match actually sucked, it was just incredibly fun watching that ****ing block burn to someone who nearly lost to Parapa the Rapper once.

Honestly, the good matches in this format have involved a CT character or Pikachu. Kinda weird.

Well, the finals both years I'd consider putting high up just because of general wackiness and importance (in the case of L-Block).
