Super Mario Kart won the morning vote, which usually bodes well for the ASV, though not always.

The ASV was essentially a draw, with the night vote decisively favoring Super Metroid. Basically, if this is still close when the ASV is over, chances are good Super Metroid's got it.

Chances are good that this wouldn't even be a close match if Sonic 3 were here, so...!

Plus, it's playing out exactly the same as last time, so unless something weird happens, I'd say Super Metroid's got the advantage.

Why do people keep saying that certain games can steal away other's ASV against competition? If LttP "steals" SM's ASV, it'll "steal" Super Mario Kart's as well. This sounds a lot like hardcore fanbases, in that people keep spouting it off despite no proof that it actually exists.

Yeah, until further notice, you have to assume history will repeat itself. SMK's done a good job of getting back into the match -- I thought it was going to be out of contention after last night. Still, we've seen them duke it out with SM winning in a close one just a few weeks ago...there's not much reason to bet otherwise yet.

More than that.....the way the match was going the first couple of hours, had it followed 2007 trends, Vincent would have won by 3000 to 4000 votes.

Matches with such even trends are boring! Except for CT/LTTP alone it seems!

Have to trust in last round's trends until we see evidence to the contrary though, and those say the ASV is split evenly between these games. Super Metroid should have the advantage right now thanks to its lead.

The difference between Crono/Vincent and SM/SMK is that there was a year between Crono/Vincent (as far as four-ways go) while SM/SMK had a match last round. Trends were allowed to change more, and last round showed that SM takes the match from this point onward -- albeit barely. Besides, Crono was much closer their second match than their first match while SMK is further behind this time than last time. We can also mention that it's unlikely SMK gets the same kind of support Crono got at the end of their matches.....


I like SM here. Go SMK and all that, but it looks like Metroid's finally got something good on the resume.

On a side note, what do people consider a 'win' here nowadays? 2nd place? Does 3rd place count as a 'win' as it beat out 4th place, even while not advancing? I'm sure there are some 'everything but 1st place is a loss' people still around.
