Sonic doesn't have to make day vote comebacks. it's against Street Fighter. --- xyzzy http://www.mistwalkercorp.com/en/_src/sc569/HNI_0022.jpg |

Sonic
is pretty strong in the dead zone too. If SF2 can't get going quickly,
it's not going to get out to much of a lead before morning hits. --- Link he come to town to win the Gamefaqs Contests. |

Isn't SFII going to wreck Sonic with the dead zone though? Sonic isn't going to be making any day vote comebacks with a Mario game in the poll. I believe we're entering Sonic's worst time period, but Sonic should take the morning easily. SMB3 did the worst in that time frame too, so it should be Sonic's (and Monkey Island's) time to shine. That said, I'm more concerned about the day vote. Sonic was doing better than SF2 there last time, but with SMB3 I start wondering if Sonic shouldn't be looking for the day to finish any comebacks, and instead better make sure it happens in the morning... which it should, but... --- xp1337: Don't you wish there was a spell-checker that told you when you a word out? All
that said, if Sonic can keep stalling SF2 like it is right now, then
it's not going to matter, and Sonic should have this pretty easily. --- xp1337: Don't you wish there was a spell-checker that told you when you a word out? SC2k6 (190/240) 99.4958 Percentile |

I'm
happy about this match. It proves once and for all SFF between Sonic
and Mario, and we can finally laugh at the remaining stragglers who
think Mario World's win over Sonic 2 was somehow legitimate. --- `·.,¸¸,.·´¯`·.,¸¸,.·´¯`·.,¸¸,.~*ST*~.,¸¸,.·´¯`·.,¸¸,.·´`·.,¸¸,.·´ "You are the king of derailing topics, by the way." -Lucid |

To
me this doesn't exactly prove SFF between the two and I'm actually a
supporter of that theory. It's possible Sonic just owned up the apathy
vote last round. --- No problem! This is a cute and pop genocide of love! |
PartOfYourWorld | Posted 5/11/2009 1:45:06 AM | message detail |
I was expecting a lot
more SFF than this. I was expecting this to be one of the standard
setters for game SFF. It's still there - Sonic will go from 55.5% on
Street Fighter II to substantially less (maybe even under 50%, although
it's looking unlikely), and it's all because of Mario 3. Perhaps I was
crazy to think Street Fighter could go from 44% to 55%+, especially
since it's also gotta have overlap with Mario, but I think "apathy
voting" is far less realistic than just attributing it to SFF. I doubt
Sonic would be down right now if we replace Mario 3 with, say, FFVII. --- Yoblazer: http://i37.tinypic.com/x1d2s9.jpg Watch and you'll see... someday I'll be... part of your world! |

Hah,
MI is coming closer and closer to a stall. Meanwhile, Mario 3 is
getting hammered. Another hour to go before the early morning vote, so
there is a chance we see it dip under 47%. This is a lot worse than I
expected. --- Yoblazer: http://i42.tinypic.com/avk9ie.jpg Watch and you'll see... someday I'll be... part of your world! |

wonder if Mario World and SMB3 split each other down the middle next

I
wonder if Mario World and SMB3 split each other down the middle next
round and Sonic maintained its usual ~25% split from its hardcore
audience if it could have an outside shot. I wouldn't call it impossible, but whichever final fantasy that advances tomorrow (probably 4) is going to have a pretty crazy advantage on it, being the game that's least likely to suffer from any sff and all. Sonic is definitely showing itself to be quite capable of minimizing sff damage here anyways. --- "A casual stroll through the lunatic asylum shows that faith does not prove anything." - Friedrich Nietzsche http://www.last.fm/user/dragoontheguy |
Smurf Alt | Posted 5/11/2009 3:53:10 AM | message detail |
I've
always thought of Sonic characters and games of having a small core
audience of about a 20-25% share but also with a large casual pull from
the Nintendo base that'll favour it against non-Nintendo. I think
Nintendo's influence on it is best described as stunting rather than
complete SFFing, I'd never expect to see a Sonic game or character
SFF'd into the ground by Nintendo like Metroid would for example. --- http://pfcdn.net/site/trophy_widget/psn/smurfsdabomb.png |
dragoontheguy | Posted 5/11/2009 4:05:09 AM | message detail |
And
Sonic finally takes back second place. I think it's pretty safe to
assume it won't be in danger of losing it from any point here on out. --- "A casual stroll through the lunatic asylum shows that faith does not prove anything." - Friedrich Nietzsche http://www.last.fm/user/dragoontheguy |
