The biggest reason I like GlaDOS in that match is it went up against the two biggest groups of fans on this site, FF7 and Nintendo and got a raw 20% of the vote. The PS3 has nothing on those fanbases.

It's more likely LBP beats Bioshock then Portal doesn't get over 20%.

Before watching this match would you have taken Portal > Galaxy? Pokemon is obviously weakening it. If it wasn't for The Orange Box nobody would buy the game, it like buying Wii Play without the Wiimote, sure it's interesting, but not worth the $30. An internet meme can only take it so far.

You can't just call Falco Nintendo, that's like calling Lucario Nintendo and Altair a powerhouse, GlaDOS' performance was not impressive.

Also My Games numbers are telling when they are only a few hundred compare to over a thousand for other games. Of course it only works with games that have been recently released.

Well I've never played Bioshock, so I don't really know what genre it is, but I don't think it'll be a powerhouse or anything.

Just watch what happened when we underestimated Half-Life 2 and Call of Duty 4.

Bioshock is like an FPS with (a lot of) RPG elements. Fallout 3 is a full-blown WRPG, the role-playing differences between the games are self-evident.

Actually, Gears of War is widely recognized to be an action adventure, or, if you want to get closer, a third-person shooter, and not a first-person shooter. And we know that action adventures never do well on GameFAQs unless they have "Legend of Zelda" or "Metal Gear" (and, to a perhaps much lesser extent, "Resident Evil" and "Metroid) in the name.

No but you can invest EXP (ADAM) in various skills (Plasmids and Tonics) to increase your strength and vary the way you defeat enemies and progress through the game. You can also purchase Health and Magic (EVE) Upgrades with this EXP. Not automatically granting you a DING! Level Up when you reach a point doesn't stop it from being a WRPG.

It also shows a lot of the same character as other WRPGs. It's a much darker game then most JRPGs, has the "good" and "bad" ways to play the character (although to a lesser extent).

There's a difference between investing EXP in skills and the game giving you weapons and powerups. This is not a complicated thought.

Really not.

Bioshock doesn't have the most important aspect of any WRPG, though - the actual roleplaying is practically non-existent. The only real choice you even have outside of approaching combat is choosing whether or not to save the little girls - and even that can be tied in to the former aspect.

Kind of a dumb argument, but there ya go.

You can't expect 20% based on one performance. That's like claiming that Persona 4 will get more than 15% because Persona 4 is stronger than Disgaea and it got 15% in its four-pack.

Of course Portal can easily break 20% as well so this argument is more less at a stalemate.

Which is all you've said so far.

Either way, GlaDOS scored 30% on Vincent, and got over 20% in a poll with an FF7 character and a Nintendo character in it. The picture was god-awful, and no one could have possibly voted for it thinking "HOLY CRAP I KNOW THAT PICTURE THAT'S TOTALLY THE PORTAL CHARACTER".

Meanwhile, Big Daddy bombed in its poll against Gordon/Scorpion/Balthier and everyone knows who the face of Bioshock is. He was 100% recognizable in that poll. You can argue games =/= characters all you want and how match pics don't matter and whatever else, but Big Daddy's performance was much worse than GlaDOS's performance. No amount of spin changes this.
