Yeah, but Zen has prepped some truly amazing pics, and time and time again, the box art was chosen over them. Remember Resident Evil (Zen did some for that one, right)?

Well, the Resident Evil ones weren't pics of the original game. I did pics of REMake and Deadly Silence, so Bacon kinda has an excuse. I still don't think it should have mattered, though.

C'mon, a picture of THE wall (you know which one), with "The Cake Is A Lie" scribbled right there and the cake underneath would have been the best pic ever. Portal has so many good pics right there its a shame to use the boxart.

Portal's pic is cool, though that other one was better, yes.


Anyway, just to touch on CoD4/SMG a bit more: I feel worse and worse about getting caught up in SMG-hype since the contest started. SMG didn't kill CoD4 in their GotY-poll and that was with Halo 3 in the poll. Replace Halo 3 with TF2 and throw in the newest Pokemon game, and CoD4 > SMG syncs up MUCH more with how I felt pre-contest (which I've got next round, too). I'll agree with Leonhart that SMG probably gets ~55% on CoD4 one-on-one, which is about what SSBB gets on FO3 if their GotY-polls hold up (and SSBB/GTA4/P4 suggests it's still fairly accurate/relevant). CoD4/FO3 would likely be a good match until further notice, so I'm not convinced SSBB's escaping R3 yet. Besides, it's the SFF we care about more than their estimated strength; I doubt they're far apart. SSBB's looking good that it can get a lot of votes and did well enough yesterday while it would be nice to see SMG distance itself from Pokemon more, but as long as they're close then that isn't going to be the deciding factor.

I don't think it's called damage control if it's what I originally went with...!

I'd say it's just kind of insulting to have us make the pics and then chose something that took all of seconds to make when there were alternatives that were arguably better that actually took time to make. I just want pics that use more than the damn crop tool.

I can't say because I don't I haven't played Portal, so I'm guessing the cake is the in-joke there or whatever. Zen's other one wasn't bad, but the one Bacon chose represents the game pretty well. Can't win 'em all -- I thought my pic of FFIV's party was a lot better than GBA box art, but what can you do !

Oh, and I will say SSBB wouldn't be in first place today either. If you think SSBB would be getting 7% better than SMG right now in its position, you should have had SSBB go a lot further than I bet you did.

But seriously, Portal not getting WCC or cake is like having a Duke Nukem 3D pic without Duke. It just feels...off, really.

For what it's worth, I love that Portal box-art. I'm glad it's been used...I just like Zen's more as a fan of the game.

Yeah, that's how I feel. I always like it when my pic gets chosen, but as long as the one that does get picked isn't bad, I don't have a problem with it. I've made plenty of these before, it's not like they take a whole lot longer than a box art crop!

I've been seeing everyone say that Galaxy would be beating CoD4 if it was 1 on 1.

Why? Pokemon has never overlapped with Nintendo as much as their other entrants. You could make a case for TF2 having more overlap with CoD4.

Either way, CoD4 is beating Galaxy by 55.33% as of now. That's a good bit of distance to make up.

Call of Duty is winning by enough that I'd call it the favorite against Galaxy 1v1, especially considering TF2 is here. Nothing definite, but I would be quite surprised to see Galaxy win 55-45 1v1- that's a huge amount of LFF for a single game to cause.

COD4 vs. Galaxy 1v1 would be a close match either way. I'd want to side with Galaxy, just because it seems more likely to win. Kind of a Brawl/MGS4 situation.

Okay, let's look at the vote totals right now. Full analysis will follow at end of match.

Call of Duty 4 has shattered the record for highest vote totals of a PC/Xbox game, and is now 2nd strongest FPS by vote totals, only being beaten by GoldenEye.

Super Mario Galaxy, in the meanwhile, is very disappointing. While every Mario game prior to this broke 55k votes (except for Yoshi's Island), Mario Galaxy is struggling to break 30k votes, and is looking worse than HALF-LIFE 2 right now; forget Twilight Princess or Brawl.

Looks like we're gonna have by far the lowest votals yet today.

It's 600 short of Sonic 2/MK/SoM/SF2 with 2 hours to go. I think we'll make it by then.
