What the heck is up with ToS?! It never performed this well before. Now it looks like GoW won't advance and from what ive seen on the contest topics, its making a lot of people lose a lot of points. --- "If history is to change, let it change. TOS never performed before. this isn't that surprising.. it's doing better than I expected for sure but it was never super weak. --- xyzzy |

Neat, ToS picked up since I last checked the poll (well, more like GoW is falling off). And all ToS is doing here is taking advantage of a weak group. This isn't THAT impressive. --- Moltar Status: ahh, there you are Match 25 - Bracket: GTA:SA > GoW - Vote: ToS (69/96) |
transients | Posted 5/1/2009 4:10:55 PM | message detail |
this
match is looking great. Symphonia should cut for two more hours, stall
for two, and then who the hell knows what. if this follows established
trends (lol) then it'd have a 150-200 vote lead that GOW would have to
try and fight back from. great job by Symphonia. more proof that the game is better than its hideous characters! --- xyzzy |
KamikazePotato | Posted 5/1/2009 4:12:25 PM | message detail |
Man, I don't care what anyone says, this group isn't that weak. How the hell is SA weaker than Vice City. Seriously. Vice City does not have a single advantage. Why does this contest take pleasure in destroying my expectations so much. --- http://thengamer.com/guru/ |
transients | Posted 5/1/2009 4:13:45 PM | message detail |
it's not painfully weak, but it's not strong either. --- xyzzy |

Awww
yeah looking for the goose egg in a four way round one for the first
time. I imagine I'm gonna be tasting the rainbow in these last two
divisions. --- Should I start running now? |

Let's go, Symphonia! Beat that game I like a lot more than you! --- I, like clockwork, have been humiliated by hochiminh Hochiminh is better than me. I was a numbskull for thinking I could defy Him. |
ZFS | Posted 5/1/2009 4:50:37 PM | message detail |
This
is a pretty weak group, no about that. They're not fodder or anything,
but I'd be surprised if any of them advance next round, unless the
competition just bombs tomorrow. MGS3 has such an easy path, it could
be MGS2 levels and still cruise by. --- http://i44.tinypic.com/hwh4yo.gif |
BDawg | Posted 5/1/2009 4:51:29 PM | message detail |
I don't really expect GoW to have any fight left but that's just pure speculation. --- Should I start running now? |
KamikazePotato | Posted 5/1/2009 4:52:39 PM | message detail |
I
don't think MGS3 has any trouble with these guys, but I could see
either Oblivion, ToS, or GoW advancing next round. It all depends on
how badly Halo 2/WoW bomb. --- http://thengamer.com/guru/ |
GrapefruitKing | Posted 5/1/2009 4:54:30 PM | message detail |
I couldn't care less about which game gets 2nd place today, I just want it to be close --- Today's prediction: OJ Loc 29.39% - Oblivion 26.86% - God of War 26.09% - Symphonia 17.66% Status: demon fang |
hochiminhX | Posted 5/1/2009 4:54:47 PM | message detail |
ToS
will win this because nobody likes GoW enough to cheat for it. Now
then, if ToS wants any chance of advancing next round it will need Halo
2 to win tomorrow. That is because Halo 2 and Oblivion can split the
Suckbox vote which would obviously clear a path for ToS to sneak by. --- I may be fine and divine, but sometimes even contest know-nothings like Jose make better predictions than I...though not often |
Lopen | Posted 5/1/2009 5:06:38 PM | message detail |
So
how about Tales of Symphonia getting crushed by GoW with the day vote.
I said last night that ToS's day vote was being underestimated and that
the only reason I was favoring GoW to win today is because ToS was
going to be playing from behind with the night. Come on, ToS! You can do it! --- No problem! This is a cute and pop genocide of love! |
KamikazePotato | Posted 5/1/2009 5:08:17 PM | message detail |
GoW
pretty much has to pull some voodoo magic to win here. It and ToS have
the same trends from here on out, so a re-comeback is unlikely, and
even if it somehow starts to manage that, ToS fans will 'help' it out. --- http://thengamer.com/guru/ |

Question. http://www.gamefaqscontests.com/images/poll_graph.php?matchnum=3470&type=1&seconds=60&max=0 Is there any way to view these with some graphs removed? I think we might need that option after KOTOR's match and this match. --- http://thengamer.com/guru/ |

LeonhartFour | Posted 5/1/2009 5:16:03 PM | message detail |
And all ToS is doing here is taking advantage of a weak group. This isn't THAT impressive. ToS is beating two critically acclaimed and widely publicized games and hanging close with a third. That alone is impressive, even if this IS a RPG-oriented site. You can blame the fourpack for being weak if you want, but give the game SOME credit. It's easily the least known game here. ToS in 2nd place! http://i38.tinypic.com/2cgzwy0.jpg RISING FALCON --- http://www.court-records.net/animation/phoenix-superobjection.gif |

...Why
in the world does Kratos have such a great day vote but his game
doesn't? Most other games we've seen so far following the trends of
their characters. --- http://www.court-records.net/animation/phoenix-superobjection.gif |
hochiminhX | Posted 5/1/2009 5:20:17 PM | message detail |
Kratos has a good day vote? Because he won it against Alucard and L-Block? --- I may be fine and divine, but sometimes even contest know-nothings like Jose make better predictions than I...though not often |

Hm...I had Oblivion > GoW, but since ToS is so awesome and I only have 71 points, I may as well root for ToS. --- caps |
PartOfYourWorld | Posted 5/1/2009 5:23:33 PM | message detail |
Yeah,
Kratos's day vote has been artificially boosted by his competition. I
questioned why a character, despite his cool design, who stars in such
an insanely violent game would have such a good day vote, and I guess
that's the answer. Let's take a look at his big opponents in order: Alucard Ryu L-Block (one that fell like 70% throughout the day) Jill/Ocelot Tifa It makes sense. --- I, like clockwork, have been humiliated by hochiminh Hochiminh is better than me. I was a numbskull for thinking I could defy Him. |
Lopen | Posted 5/1/2009 5:27:55 PM | message detail |
Eh,
don't sell him too short. Kirby and Marth were also in matches where
Kratos rocked the day vote, and he rocked it harder than them I
believe. I think it's more the case that day votes come in two types: Nintendo and XBox/Casual. The Nintendo block of the day vote goes to ToS whereas the XBox stuff is splitting between three games, so ToS is having the advantage in this block if that makes sense. --- No problem! This is a cute and pop genocide of love! |
Yesmar | Posted 5/1/2009 5:29:06 PM | message detail |
I
will defend all these game's popularity somewhat and say that votals
are actually pretty decent. They all seem to be solid midcarders at
least. At least on par with the Diablo II/Halo/KOTOR/GTA III match. --- FastFalcon owned me in the Guru Contest! |
LeonhartFour | Posted 5/1/2009 5:29:23 PM | message detail |
Hmmm...Looking
back on his matches last year...Yeah, his day vote wasn't really that
great. He did gain, even when facing Sephy and Sonic though, who
usually have good day votes. --- http://www.court-records.net/animation/phoenix-superobjection.gif |
KamikazePotato | Posted 5/1/2009 5:30:15 PM | message detail |
Actually
Lopen, I pretty much came to the same conclusion before this comeback
even started. I figured ToS at least wouldn't get rocked like everyone
was saying. MGS3/ToS/Oblivion/Halo 2. Who ya got? Does the Xbox vote split enough for ToS to sneak in? --- http://thengamer.com/guru/ |

TOS
has a great shot if that's the pack. actually.. it should have a nice
shot anyway unless Warcraft does really well, or unless Okami advances
(which I won't count out) --- xyzzy |
Lopen | Posted 5/1/2009 5:33:07 PM | message detail |
Okami? Are you flippin kidding me? Halo 2 and MGS3 won't be remotely close to Okami. --- No problem! This is a cute and pop genocide of love! |
LeonhartFour | Posted 5/1/2009 5:33:56 PM | message detail |
I'm not sure why Tales of Symphonia can't beat Okami. Heck, I'm not sure why it can't beat Halo 2 or World of Warcraft. I honestly wouldn't expect either of them to be that far ahead or behind Oblivion. It's possible! --- http://www.court-records.net/animation/phoenix-superobjection.gif |
The n00b Avenger | Posted 5/1/2009 5:34:03 PM | message detail |
If Amaterasu can do it so can Okami! --- A refusal of praise is a desire to be praised twice. |
KamikazePotato | Posted 5/1/2009 5:34:07 PM | message detail |
Just like ToS wasn't going to be remotely close to these guys? Granted, Okami has a worse shot than ToS ever did, but let's not count it out considering how many times our expectations have been rocked. --- http://thengamer.com/guru/ |

I never said that about ToS. ToS at least has an impressive GotY showing under its belt. What does Okami have? --- No problem! This is a cute and pop genocide of love! |
KamikazePotato | Posted 5/1/2009 5:35:06 PM | message detail |
ToS
would beat Okami, but I think Okami shares more of a fanbase with ToS
than the rest of its pack. Seems more cultish, if that makes sense.
Okami being there probably hinders ToS a bit. --- http://thengamer.com/guru/ |
