What
is with all these people thinking San Andreas is the most popular GTA?
With a fanbase as casual and wandering as GTA, Vice City has managed to
beat Metroid Prime on Nintendo FAQs six full years after its release,
meanwhile San Andreas is getting beat by a Tales game. Not only that in
2008 Tommy made it into the field, when CJ did not. Despite the latter
being far more recent. Use some common sense and stop trying to twist
stats to make San Andreas look stronger than it is. --- Smurf 60% of the time he's awesome every time. |

Use some common sense and stop trying to twist stats to make San Andreas look stronger than it is. Before this match common sense would say SA is stronger than VC. Metroid Prime is also weak, Super Metroid barely defeated Super Mario Kart and I would take Super Metroid > Metroid Prime. --- Board 8 BOP: http://www.freewebs.com/charmander6000/BGE2%20BOP.xls BGE2 - Today's Match: GTA: SA > GoW Points: 71/96 |

From: Fayt_Esteed | #060 He meant 2007, which is still true. CJ had been abandoned by the fans by then but still embraced Tommy. Yeah,
Vice City isn't strong, especially in light of how every other GTA has
managed to do. It just means Metroid Prime ain't worth much of
anything, which isn't too terribly surprising. Still, after today, I'd
give Vice City the edge in strength, though it's not by leaps or
bounds. --- http://i44.tinypic.com/hwh4yo.gif |

Is there such a thing as "Hardcore" GTA fans? I find that most of the regular fans became fans through Vice City. III created the formula Vice City perfected the formula San Andreas used the perfected formula and made it bigger. I'd really like to know what anyone sees in San Andreas that they'd give it the edge over Vice City. VC had an incredible atmosphere for its time, a real 80's feel of a cast of truly likable characters. San Andreas just felt patronizing. As if it knew its audience were braindead morons who only enjoy guns, girls and foul language. At least Vice City had some style to cover that up. >_> --- (\__/) Meet Ziggy, the Evil Bunny who wants to take over the world and eat the flesh of the weak. III created the formula Vice City perfected the formula San Andreas used the perfected formula and made it bigger. GTA3 was the game that snowballed (iirc it's only a million behind VC) though it only had a year to sell before Vice City came out and even then it was still selling half decently. MGS2 was suppose to be the game of the year GTA3 surprised everyone. >_> San Andreas being massive was a big thing, Vice City was roughly the same size of GTA3 and the beaches in the east took a lot of space. San Andreas was able to spread out its missions better while Vice City had almost everything going on in the east side with only the optional and buisness missions occuring on the west. Actually besides the north part of the west I don't really know much of it and usually hanged out on the east. San Andreas also had flyable planes and little touches like that make it the better game. --- Board 8 BOP: http://www.freewebs.com/charmander6000/BGE2%20BOP.xls BGE2 - Today's Match: GTA: SA > GoW Points: 71/96 |

I
thought it was a little cringe worthy. I mean you're put in the
position of a black guy with family issues and just finished doing
time, thrown into the "hood" where naturally you'll experience your
first drive by from a rival gang five minutes in. After which you'll
celebrate by going to Chicken shack. >_> Everything was too yellow in the setting and I didn't like the story or characters one bit. In fairness I'd say the same about GTA IV. Vice City was the only one I truly got into, maybe the game was just carried by Tommy for me but for whatever reason I certainly had a lot more fun with it. --- (\__/) Meet Ziggy, the Evil Bunny who wants to take over the world and eat the flesh of the weak. Probably
leaning towards Mario Kart, although I still don't see why people are
so down on Super Metroid. Unless you want to hold Mario Kart to the
series contest, we had no idea how strong the individual games would
be. And it's not like SM proved it was a powerhouse or anything. We
just got from data that it was the most popular Metroid game. SM still
was able to beat the hell out of Sonic 3 with MK being in the poll.
That match really was all about SMK impressing. I took SM in the first match, but I was nervous as hell about how it would hold up, especially seeing that SMK did have some strength to it. I was surprised that it was able to actually fight SMK off. I'm not totally counting it out, especially if LttP SFF's SMK just as badly. --- Currently playing: GTAIV, SSBB, MP3, Apollo Justice, FFIVDS, Dracula X |
