Well,
the past two days have all but confirmed that SFF/LFF/Stand Out Factor
are indeed applicable in this contest and were just waiting for the
right matches to show up. Also, we're quickly learning that the
PS2/GC/Xbox generation has, like, four games with any real strength. From: UltimaterializerX | #278 Not really sure. It tried to do this combo 2D/3D thing that just didn't appeal to me at all, and the music didn't even begin to hook me (that's pretty important for me with those types of games). Oblivion
cut. Normally wouldn't surprise me at all, but that's quite a momentum

It's
not like Tales is fluking this. It's always been decently popular on
this site for a gamecube game. It did handily beat Paper Mario 2 and
perform admirably against MP2. And it's the only game on a Nintendo

Three
RPGs would be even better, but it looks like anything can happen both

Hey,
a double cut. God of War cut into Oblivion to take back second and
still cut Symphonia at the same time. Also, that was GTA's worst update

don't know why GoW was being written off to be like DMC and Ninja
Gaiden. Have we not seen the marketing machine that Sony put behind it?
GoW was bound to be stronger than those games by the sheer fact that
it's much more casual than the other two, plus it gets a ton of

me to eat crow for a second: ToS is doing a LOT better than I thought
it would. It may still be the weakness of the other games, but...it's
easier to accept I was wrong on one game than three in the same match,
so good job so far ToS. Let's see if it lasts. ps this doesnt mean rally behind every character in the tos cast Also, hey GTA:SA, get your **** straight! --- Prototype Shorthand, do you speak it?! |

From: creativename | #320 God of War and San Andreas go after a very similar fanbase, and they share a console, to boot. Oblivion is a fellow RPG, but it's a lot different than Symphonia, it's Western, and it's on a different console. ToS definitely stands out in the picture, and it's the only Eastern/Nintendo option there. For what it's worth, there have only been two other matches with a lone Nintendo option. nice to see GOW not suck for once. I guess you can say everything is
sucking, but GOW had bomb potential on it based on old polls. good to

Yes!
GoW validated the strength I thought it had. Now, we need to wait until
the morn arrives and we see if it DOES have a killer day vote, just to
confirm if it'll place first (if it drops, though, it won't place, but
that doesn't seem likely). |

I think it's too early to say that the both winners of the next match will place above the winner of this match. MGS3 should certainly win, but I could definitely see Halo 2 and Warcraft being weaker than God of War/Oblivion - maybe even Tales. Knowing this board's apparent obsession with the game, it could even form a mini-bandwagon if it wins here. Also, if this match is close at the end...we could see some shadiness from Tales. The Oblivion/GoW back and forth my favorite thing about this match :) I'd love an Oblivion>GoW result. Don't know if Oblivion could survive the inevitable "God of War SMASH" during the day though. But maybe Oblivion can give itself some breathing room overnight.
