A = Strongest Character

To figure out a character's Xsts Percentage ---> [(CvB)(BvA)]/50 = CvA
To compare how C would do against B ---> [(CvA)/(BvA)]*50 = CvB
To figure out how B would do against A ---> [(CvA)/(CvB)]*50 = BvA

~*Say What? Some Common Stat Topic Lingo Defined*~

SFF (Same Fanbase Factor) - Same Fanbase Factor is the theory that, if two contestants share a common fanbase, the weaker of the two options will underperform in a direct matchup. For instance, Link was expected to defeat Ganon with 65% of the vote in 2004, based on their 2003 values. Instead, Link collected near 88% of the vote, because the Zelda fanbase so clearly sided with him. However, take some SFF labels with a grain of salt, as many people will slap it onto any match that doesn't make total sense. This has caused a few SFF jokes, with LordOfDabu's "Some Frivolous Factor" being the funniest of them.

X-Stats - Short form of Extrapolated Statistics, aka the mathematical "strength" of a contestant that can be determined based on their performance in any given matchup. See above for a detailed explanation of the x-stat process.

rSFF (Reverse Same Fanbase Factor): An unproven theory that states that an SFF match will feature the expected weaker character receiving more benefit from SFF than the stronger character. For example, all evidence supports Samus being indirectly stronger than Mario, yet Mario blew Samus away during their 2005 match. That's rSFF in action, and the one case we have of the weaker statistical character winning with it.

This entire contest is a joke. Most of the best games are getting voted out. Who are these RPG losers ? I mean I like RPG's as much as anyone else, but lets be realistic. GTA 3 & Halo are on the verge of elimination. I've lost all hope in gamefaqs.

Not the best match for complaints. KotOR is almost universally acclaimed as one of the greatest games ever made.

C'mon people- GameFax BGE is really like the MTV movie awards.... definately not the Academy Awards. The masses are voting, and the masses are definately skewed from a critics standpoint.

So all these games that are wonderful but intended for a particular audience are going to be blown out of the water by games that are accessible to all.

Diablo is up 3000 votes in a 4-way. That should be beyond even Halo's ASV. I do think it'll make substantial cuts though- maybe 1000. No way does it catch up though, and even if it did, it'd have to deal wth rallying then (and I mean the kind of rallying Starcraft used against it, not just Albion rallying).

I still remember people calling the match for Halo when Castlevania had a lead of 700 after the first hour.

Cool, surprised to see Star Wars in 2nd.

This match's outcome was pretty much locked a half an hour into the poll, but Halo will only beat Star Wars by like a 1000 votes. Yet another (expected by many - should've been expected by more!) humiliation in an endless string of them.

Let's see how Halo 2 and 3 continue the string.

If KotOR holds on, I think it might go down as the most incredible upset ever. Even in cases like Pac-Man/Ocelot and Chief/Sub-Zero, we could have at least come up with some viable reasons for the results. KotOR isn't new, and neither is Halo. KotOR was weak in 2004 and has had absolutely, positively no reason to get any stronger. Hell, it's even got another RPG to contend with in Diablo II (although that's quite the stretch).

The only thing anywhere near this level of bafflement (that I can think of) is Magus/Knuckles, and even that had more legit reasoning behind it than this one would.

Magus/Knuckles had no legit reasoning behind it. That's just statheads trying to rationalise. Is and always will be the biggest upset ever - certainly nothing in this format can ever top it, since it is much more conducive to upsets.
