Tomorrow should be interesting. I don't trust Metroid at all anymore and Kingdom Hearts was never up to much and is well out of vogue now. Vice City certainly had plenty of teeth last time around but if Tommy is anything to go by its not the beast it once was. And Paper Mario is the total outsider which is interesting with it being both a Mario and Rpg game.

One of those rare matches where any order whatsoever is possible. KH > Metroid is the favorite so naturally Metroid will choke. KH > Vice City it is then.

I'm surprised more people aren't worried about Paper Mario.

It's a longshot, but all of its opposition is prime to fail. Metroid Prime only scored 45% on Half-Life on 2k4, which just bombed, then lost to Wind Waker, which lost to Starcraft, which just bombed. Same with Kingdom Hearts, except with Soul Calibur instead of Half-Life. Vice City...well, just look at GTA recently.

At the very least, it doesn't get stomped like some people are thinking.

Bleh, Silent Hill. This brings back memories of the series contest where people called Silent Hill "obscure". This certainly doesn't help. Silent Hill isn't obscure dammit! GameFAQs just doesn't care about the series at all. :(

Why do people think that Kingdom Hearts is suppose to have strength? 2004 Sora happened just months after Kingdom Flop and the boost in 2006 was due to Kingdom Hearts II.

Metroid Prime
1. Beat Half-Life by 56%. Half-Life just bombed.
2. Lost to Wind Waker, which lost to Starcraft. Which just bombed.

Prime 2 is definitely the worst in the series, while many believe the original is the best.

I still have faith in it, though I'm starting to think KH is going to put up high numbers for some reasons.

And MGS2 is really letting me down today. Terrible showing from it.

For some reason I have KH>Prime tomorrow, but Prime>FFX in R2. But after today, i doubt prime tops FFX, even with KH LFF.

FFX is going to murder the next round no matter what kind of splits it has to deal with.

You know, someone said that KH won't be as weak as 2004.. which I do agree with, but then again, 2004 was also the year we saw Sora possibly as his strongest pre-KH2. One could argue that Sora could have boosted in 2005, but I'm not sure if Alucard's performance on Kratos' first year inspires much on that part.

If Sora stayed constant though, I would figure KH wouldn't have moved a lot, and the only reason Sora boosted againt was because of KH2 which is probably weaker than KH.

MP > KH looks pretty good even with the presence of Paper Mario. Gears of War also might make things interesting.

Don't forget that this is Metal Gear Solid 2, often seen as the black sheep of its series.

I am honestly disappointed in this website. It doesn't really like mature games it seems. Same is true with multiplayer, unless the game in question has Mario or Link in it.

It's just Final Fantasy and Legend of Zelda, with some Super Mario mixed in. Those are my three favorite franchises, but I would have expected more interest in others.

My top franchises (from an unbiased point of view)
1. The Legend of Zelda
2. Super Mario Bros.
3. Final Fantasy
4. Metal Gear
5. Resident Evil
6. Warcraft
7. Castlevania (this is basically tied with WC)
8. Metroid
9. Civilization
10. Pokemon

I don't know, I'd say that 22k votes and 44% against horrible competition is better than Street Fighter IV getting 9220 (which is the actual number, forgot to add one of the options) and 12% against itself.

Let's see, what other matches can I psychoanalyze...

Oblivion/ToS/GoW? Any chances ToS and GoW had of winning just went out the window. I would have trouble seeing God of War doing what Morrowind is doing here, let alone Oblivion.

Galaxy/CoD4/Diamond. With PC games and shooters faltering, LFF not meaning much, and Pokemon the move...I think CoD4/Diamond will be a good battle for 2nd.

Fallout 3>Halo 3 should be a near-lock, but I wouldn't be surprised if Left 4 Dead snuck in there. L4D grows every day, and Halo 3 has had a massive fanbase backlash.

Kingdom Hearts will most definetely win the match. After that, it's between Metroid Prime and Vice City. Vice City has the x-stat advantage, but Metroid Prime has the list advantage, and Metroid Prime has already beaten Vice City when it won the Game of the Year award from this site (wait, that means it beat Kingdom Hearts too, look how well that's worked out since).

Ultimately I decided to pick Vice City, because I felt that Paper Mario would steal enough votes from Metroid Prime to cause that. Though if Vercetti is a good approximation for Vice City's strength, it could flop there. Plus Kingdom Hearts could casual SFF Vice City.

Fallout 3 and Oblivion definitely have big similarities, that's not up for debate. Correlating their strengths is more speculative but it makes sense to me.

As for this weird faith some people have in Vice City. Are people completely forgetting that the year is 2009 and the game is

I think it's because people have seen the top half of the 128-bit division fail and don't think the same won't happen to the bottom or something. Also FFX is doing quite well today (though people should be comparing Vice City to MGS2's performance IMO)

They are similar, but they are not connected at the hip. Just because one does good, does not mean the other will.

Of course, I'm not saying that Fallout 3 will perform bad, I'm just saying that if it does, it will be because of it's own strength, not because of TES doing good.

The only correlation I'm going to make for sure is that I certainly expect Oblivion > Morrowind and don't see why FO3 wouldn't beat Oblivion. I've never played FO3 though, so I can't say much about their similarities...but strength-wise, that's what I'm expecting. Morrowind's putting on a good show for Oblivion and FO3 to improve upon.
