Well, can't say that this wasn't expected. It looks like PC games of
the past at the very least haven't aged well. I'm pretty happy I don't
have Diablo II over Melee now (though not entirely), but it seems to be
more than just PC games are choking. Perfect Dark, Resident Evil 1 & 2, Castlevania, SoulCalibur, Half-Life, Tactics, Starcraft... all of these games seem to have vastly underperformed so far. Some could probably have some SFF explanations, others could be added arguably (Star Fox 64 comes to mind). I mean, I'd hate to say it but these performances from them are solid but they certainly don't scream to me "lock for the finals" solid. I dunno, he ran MGS4 vs. Brawl a third time 1v1. I can see him doing it if it's close. I thought this too, but then I started wondering if he was worried about it possibly "invalidating" his contest, so to speak. Can you imagine if FFVII wins the final match, it's crowned the tourney winner, the brackets all done, Bacon has an announcement up proclaiming it the champion, and all the while, Ocarina is beating it in a 1v1 match? RE4 feels lightweight,it really should have scored 20% on that
field,the only square/RE SFF i would agree to is for playstation era

RE4 was most likely SFF'd to some degree in that GotC-poll. Compare how
Leon did against Dante in R2 last year to when he shared the poll with
either Kirby or Pikachu, and Leon drops 3%-4% with those Nintendo
characters. Now, if Leon -- who stars in both Nintendo-heavy RE4 and
Playstation-heavy RE2 -- drops that much in the face of Kirby or
Pikachu and RE4 is his biggest source of strength...then RE4 surely
drops at least a little bit with LoZ:TP, LoZ:WW, SMG, and MP in the
poll. Seriously, those are two big LoZ games and two big comebacks for Nintendo's other main series. It's not going to be easy for RE4 to remain invincible to SFF/LFF when it's on their turf, unless there's a better explanation for Leon dropping unusually in the presence of Nintendo. --- Prototype Shorthand, do you speak it?! |

Fun with Numbers: Using Half-Life and a constant SSBM Wind Waker is
expected to get 36.40% against Melee. Personally I think Melee was

I was going to post yesterday about how this match would shed light on
the debate I was having with some here about where NES Final Fantasy's
strength lay. I said early in the contest it was above FF9 and FF12,
others disputed this; I acknowledged FF9 might be there with it but not
12. FF9 is getting about 30% on OoT here, CC might be costing it a
couple points but not much more than that. I'd still say FF1>=FF9,
and it's definitely stronger than FF12. So who else voted for Chrono Cross here? OoT is great but not among my personal faves. Cross isn't quite either but I did like the game a lot, it had some emotional moments and I actually loved the battle system. The big weaknesses were, of course, the near total lack of ties to Chrono Trigger, and way too many playable characters. But I thought it was a great game anyway. Legitimately my favorite game here (something I was surprised to realize). --- Save_Us.RAT BREAK THE BLOCK DOWN |
