If that LL poll is anything to be taken seriously (and I freely admit I take LL polls more seriously than most), we should probably keep our eye on G/S considering its indirect strength is likely higher on RBY than that particular poll showed. D/P, however... between that and it flopping to Phantom Hourglass, forgive me if I don't believe the hype on it.

Charizard was the only one I ever got. Venusaur and Blastoise eluded me. I hold it dearly to this day.

So I lost a bet to creativename (yeah...hardly shocking). Like usual, I should've known better!

I got my first Charizard and Venusaur on the same day. I went to the mall with my mom and she was going to JCPenny's to look at shirts, so she bought me two packs of Pokemon cards so I'd have something to do other than play Pokemon.

I was so excited when I saw Venusaur.

If only I had known that frekaing Charizard was in the next pack.

That's the poll, though I thought there were more votes and R/B/Y won by more. Anyway, that's a decent sample suggesting G/S won't compare to R/B/Y...and it'd be nice to see R/B/Y face a non-Nintendo-based game, too. MGS shouldn't be in that kind of trouble to lose to G/S just yet, I hope.

I think the biggest thing to glean from that poll is the Other category.

6% haven't played a Pokemon game? That's very impressive.

LL is Pokemon-obsessed. I'd argue that that poll is not indicative of the population at *all*, and that RBY is actually undervalued because of how nutty they are about it. take a poll there for FF and FF7 wouldn't dominate the same way we see here either. same with OOT.

It's LL - I'm mildly surprised the number is that high. I'd expect the number on something like SMB would be 0% (minus liars) considering the userbase.

I understand LUE Links has a bigger Pokemon-fascination than B8 does...and B8 beats out the site in general. I think that's just a poll between some hardcore-Pokemon fans, and R/B/Y won big there. It's the casual-favorite in the series too, so...that could explain some things.

I knew R/B/Y would win and win decisively but you guys are acting utterly absurd. R/B/Y is not on SMB3's level or even close. MM is a horrible game that has no fans. Who cares if it's Zelda? Final Fantasy IX is FF and does that game have any strength? No.

I went to GF to vote for MM, then I saw pokemon and thought for a second. While I loved MM, Pokemon Blue really shaped how I approached video games and how immersive they could be. Not to mention, I made a lot of friends because of it and it influenced my life for years and years. MM was an incredible game, and if I played them both now I'd have waaaaaay more fun with MM, but Pokemon Blue holds too many fond and important memories for me.

I voted for MM, but this more or less holds for me. I have a lot more positive memories associated with the first generation of Pokemon games than nearly any other games. StarCraft and Super Mario World are probably the only two that have a stronger emotional connection for me.

I'll probably vote for RBY next round. <_<

Charizard was the card everyone wanted. That beast of a card did 120 damage.

I was never a fan of using evolution cards in my deck. I stuck to all basic Pokemon. In that case, Chansey was the card I had based my deck around. I had 4 of them in my deck. Here's why I used Chansey:

It has 120 HP, which makes an excellent card for stalling. Its "Scrunch" attack would have a 50% chance of preventing all damage done to it during my opponent's next turn.

Double Edge can do 80 damage to the opponent's Pokemon, which is capable of knocking out most Pokemon in one shot. For higher HP Pokemon, I could rely on the PlusPower trainer cards to boost Double Edge's damage.

Despite the fact Double Edge does 80 damage to my own Chansey, I had cards like Berry and Gold Berry in my deck to heal damage. These two cards could heal Chansey at the end of my turn (after it attacks) or at the end of my opponent's turn. I also had some Defender trainer cards to not only reduce damage from Double Edge, but also reduce damage done by my opponent's Pokemon during his next turn, since Defender works during the turn I use the card + my opponent's next turn.

My Chansey deck was pretty hard to beat.

Actually, OoT dominated the poll more than it would at GameFAQs. It DOUBLED Link to the Past. Final Fantasy VII also beat VI 28% to 19%

Here's something interesting I just noticed:

Zelda: Link to the Past - 66,620 (49.86%)
Chrono Trigger - 66,995 (50.14%)

Chrono Trigger still wins today! Note that both of their matches have similar total votes and similar amount of SFF/LFF, so I'd say this is a fairly accurate comparison of the strength between these two rivals at the moment.

...I'll believe CT can take LttP when I see it. The performance was impressive, no doubt (though we're learning today that impressive performances may not necessarily equate to a top five game), but CT has just fallen off so much from its peak. It's not like Crono was only passed by Samus and Mario's boosting, he's fallen down to the point where he has to struggle with an FF7 side character annually. That's not 2004.

The LL Pokemon poll that was posted was from late '07. Here's another from early '07:

Your favorite Pokemon series?
Red/Blue/Yellow 49.59% 962
Gold/Silver/Crystal 24.64% 478
Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald (386 counts) 8.97% 174
Diamond/Pearl 2.06% 40
**** games; the TV show. 1.86% 36
Pokemon sucks, **** Pokelinks. 12.89% 250
TOTAL VOTES 1940

So yeah, LL may not represent the GameFAQs population perfectly but they're at least extremely consistent in their RBY to GSC ratio.
