No, really. RBY has every right to be much stronger than GSC. 5 years
ago or not, GSC lost to Xenogears. If GSC somehow beats Metal Gear

If GSC beats MGS I'll seriously consider RBY for contest champ. FFT
still has a good chance at placing tomorrow: do you think RBY wouldn't
have been strong in 2004? And yet GSC still got beat easily by

Hey ngirl, why don't you go win a contest and then come back to us to
gloat, okay? Good lord you're getting rather obnoxious and I love
Pokemon and had it beating Majora's Mask here too. You'd just be hard-pressed to find anyone who was introduced to FE through Melee while also liking FE more than Melee. It's just a very weird overlap. I disagree completely. I don't know why you get the idea that strategy RPG fans can't be introduced to a series through SSBM yet still prefer it. I didn't know what Fire Emblem was before SSBM, but as a strategy RPG fan more than a SSBM fan you can be sure I'll be voting it first. --- So I lost a bet to creativename (yeah...hardly shocking). Like usual, I should've known better! FACT: Halo 3 was 1000% responsible for Master Chief's boost. |

Eh, I'm willing to grant KP and ngirl a lot of gloating and bragging
rights. It honestly doesn't even seem like they're gloating so much as

STF can only take a game so far. If GSC is outclassed, it won't touch MGS. And speaking of which there seem to be a frightening amount of people that still seem resistant to the idea that MGS is the strongest game in its series. 2004 Pokemon and 2009 Pokemon are two totally different things. as much
as I'd love to tout Xenogears > GSC > Metal Gear Solid (believe),
we can throw that match out. it never happened. remove it from sc2k5.
it means nothing. GSC/FFT/MGS this could be great. I don't know what to think there; I'm inclined on one end to agree that it's far weaker than RBY, but on the other end you can be weaker than RBY and still be pretty darn strong. --- yzzyx |

I was fine with it too for the most part but this struck a nerve with me: I will be bragging about this pick for ages, since missing one game doubling another so spectacularly says a lot about predictive skill. Probably because I've (and ngirl as well I'm sure) been on the butt end of a lot of doublings with bad picks. Just because it's a doubling doesn't mean it's 100% obvious. --- So I lost a bet to creativename (yeah...hardly shocking). Like usual, I should've known better! This is dumb. Fact: Banjo would beat Earthbound one on one. I think so, but it's a tossup over 2 really weak games, could go either way. Fact: The finals of this division will be the most exciting match of the contest, including the finals. The final will almost certainly be over as soon as we see how the franchise splits go and it will be a long dull match from there. --- This could be good. |

I'm pretty skeptical of MGS1's strength in general, but it'll be
stronger than MGS2 and MGS3. The only one it might not be stronger than

As someone who's played MGS4 until he was sick from it (quite
literally), I'd like to know why people think it's potentially above
MGS1 - I really don't see it. I mean, I could see it happening. But
really, I could see anything shy of WoW winning the contest in this

MGS1 and 4 are the only MGS games that scare me; MGS1 for being
legitimately popular and MGS4 for having quite literally the entire PS3
audience behind it in a way that no other third party game can claim

And the stronger GSC is, the more RBY should get drained in the second round. Fact or Fiction: The final two games in this division will both be in the finals. I really only see OoT and StarCraft making the finals. If MGS or RBY places, I don't think they can make it. Fact or Fiction: Banjo would beat Earthbound one on one. I've never heard any expression like that before so I just assumed it
was some sorta British expression entailing "ha ha ha I am so much
better than you and now I will eat your children" and read the message

Wait, so you have an enhanced RBY, OoT, and Starcraft, and you're
saying that two out of those three couldn't keep each other company
until the finals? Who's gonna beat them? Melee, Brawl, MGS4, and
(possibly, who the hell knows) WoW are the only ones I could see
beating them, and WoW is based entirely on rallying, MGS4 is going to
be on a level with MGS, and Melee and Brawl will probably go down as

How GSC performs means nothing on RBY's strength - I mean, it would

GSC could do anything from finishing in 2nd easily to finishing in 3rd

The format, recency, and it being on the PS3 are the big reasons. I
don't think MGS4 would be stronger 1v1, but in this format, with votes
split across everything, I can definitely see MGS4 outperforming MGS1.
Aside from Brawl, it was the
game that created all of the newfound Metal Gear hype and increased the
awareness of the franchise. If this were a 1v1 contest, I'd say being
on the PS3 might hurt it, but with how many of them seem to support
MGS4, I'd sooner say having that strictly dedicated fanbase will help
more than anything. Not necessarily a guarantee, but if there's one
Metal Gear that will stronger than it, MGS4 will be the one. It's also probably the only game in recent memory that's managed to live up to its crazy hype levels, too. Sure, Pika has been looking good in these four-ways, but almost nobody
credits Super Smash Bros. for that...Why??? If Pika's strength is
almost entirely based on Pokemon, why isn't Mewtwo above him
