I don't have much faith in SMW myself, plus I don't think FF6 is as
weak as everyone thinks it is, especially since everything else is

However, I say Pokemon's performances are still questionable to this
day. Sure, it doubled Star Ocean, but so what? It nearly beat Metroid,
which is good, except for a few things: 1. This was as a series. The games, on the other hand, looked awful. 2. The series it lost to, Metroid, got 85/15'D against Zelda. 3. Samus has always been more popular than Metroid itself. As for the character battles, Pika didn't look so hot its first couple of matches (failing to get 55% on Ike, and nearly losing to Alucard), and the L-Block match is just all sorts of whacked out. Granted, he stood up to Samus better than Ganondorf, though. Mewtwo was against crappy competition in round 1 and was the beneficiary of the biggest case of sore thumb factor ever in round 3. That aside, he nearly lost to freaking MIDNA, and lost to the Cube with ease (though we can't blame him for that). That doesn't change the fact that the most legit performance from Mewtwo as a sloppy one. Plus, we have the Pokemon handheld games getting kicked around by Minish Cap and Phantom Hourglass in the GotY polls. --- "Here I go! Divine judgment for an evil soul! Sacred Penance! everyone says the VC version is the definitive version. Smoothed out
graphics in 480p, all the freezing and sound problems fixed that were

Side note: I think that even if Pokemon loses, if it keeps it close,
then it has a good shot of advancing in Round 2. Pokemon in general has
held up well against stronger competition and resisted Nintendo overlap

I dunno. GS > FFT seems way less likely to me than RBY > MM. I
mean, this is Zelda, but that's Final Fantasy....which more or less
amounts to the same thing as far as franchise voting goes. RBY ought to

G/S/C will do fine, but RBY is just going to be so far and above the
rest of the series. It can win tonight and I'd still take MGS>FFT in

I mean, if Deus Ex was replaced with another semi-strong non-Nintendo
game, I could see Pokemon gathering a loyal enough fanbase to sneak it
into second. But FFT should still have some strength, and I don't think
RBY will necessarily correlate to GSC's strength (as other Zelda games

For the record, RBY > GSC should be obvious and I'd easily take FFT
> MM without a second thought. And I have doubts in the first place
