I understand MGS is the big favorite, but there should be room for

CT's doing fine; but we haven't seen the game in 5 years. Considering
how much we say games =/= characters, I'm still skeptical a bit, but

Eh, you really can't rely on Metal Gear Solid vs. Final Fantasy Tactics
from 2004 to properly gauge how the match will most likely turn out.
Steroid Snake has only gotten stronger in the past 5 years, insanely
stronger. I know I'm gonna catch holy hell for using character
performances, but its the only recent thing one can go on. But check
these out: http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=3306 http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=3271 Ramza, unlike Snake, has only gotten weaker and weaker as the years went on. And he was never strong to begin with. I just really don't see Tactics taking first in that match, aside from a PSP port a couple years back its had nothing to really expand a fanbase, unless you want to count Tactics Advance and the recent Tactics game for DS. But using that same argument, MGS has benefited from its sequels and compilation. MGS is a lock for first. --- 46/60 points - The Best. Game. What's more surprising though is that Earthbound so far appears to be

GE/MGS is still a complete toss-up for me, and I'm not sure about Mario RPG > MK FACT or FICTION: Star Fox 64 > Donkey Kong Country > Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island > Kirby Super Star. Fiction once again. Not sure about SF64 > DKC, but the rest of the order looks alright. FACT or FICTION: Resident Evil 4 is in trouble due to RE1 and RE2 not impressing. Fiction. FICTION: Super Mario 64 > Metal Gear Solid > Goldeneye > Super Mario RPG > Mario Kart 64. Let's see MGS in action first before proclaiming SM64 stronger than it. FICTION: Star Fox 64 > Donkey Kong Country > Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island > Kirby Super Star. Really not sure here, but I doubt that's the order. FICTION: Resident Evil 4 is in trouble due to RE1 and RE2 not impressing. RE4 should be quite different from the others; franchise voting is really the domain of Zelda and Final Fantasy, and maybe a little for Mario. Great job by Chrono Trigger here. This is a good bit higher than I expected it to be. And as far as MGS/FFT goes, I'm expecting that to be closer than most, but MGS should still it, even if I think MGS1 is probably going to bomb relative to its expectations -- it wouldn't surprise me any if MGS1 isn't hanging up near the top 10. --- http://i44.tinypic.com/hwh4yo.gif |

Eh, today's match is telling me that you can't just have the franchise
name on your game and expect it to be a powerhouse. MM is no YI, but
there are some parallels - came in at the tail end of the console's
lifespan (and necessitated the expansion pack), weird gimmick that
turned a lot of people off to the game, Mario is to Baby Mario as Link
is to Young Link... (uhh believe) ...but there's really no way I see it weaker than Link's Awakening, so maybe it'll be fine. I'd still watch out for R/B/Y (almost as much as FFT should watch out for its inferior brethren). --- turnturnturn your brain in turnturnturn your brain in |

The sales argument is about the worst one you could use in favor of
Pokemon, because RBY would beat every game in the contest sans Tetris
and SMB1 if you were to go by that. No need to bring up how many
