Looks like everyone went with high 40s, low 50s for CT in the Oracle Challenge.

I went with 55% Highest prediction for it, I believe. =)

BTW, how are you guys coming up with these % on games 1-on-1.

For example, how'd you figure out CT would get 78% on EB? I'm bad at math. >,>

I told you guys CTDS was going to create a massive boost.

What, you're gloating since CT's looking good what the Europe vote? I still think that it's more to do with CT's competition absolutely sucking. After all, everybody instantly thought Altair was midcarder level after dominating his round 1 matchup. Whoops!!!

By the way, CT is projected to get 77.89% on Earthbound according to the 2004 stats. It's currently at 78.25% and rising. Doesn't mean very much, but nice to see regardless.

Well, that wasn't quite what I expected to see when I woke up. CT rising all the way up to 57% percent overnight, Earthbound dying, Lufia rising a bit, and Yoshi's Island staying constant.

YI is at 58.79% on Earthbound now, so it's ahead of what Doom got now, at least.

The gloating is only semi-serious, people. Just like the CT > LTTP hype is not very serious. But yes, for CT to even be at 2004 levels requires a moderate to large boost from CTDS (what I was told in this topic was a very large boost, though I'd reserve that for stuff like Snake 2k6 and New Square 2k3 myself).

As for the 1v1 percentages, we're just ignore 2 of the games' votes, and find one of the remaining games' percentage of the votes between it and the other. It's not really an entirely accurate system, I think, and tends to make the game with fewer votes look better than it would in a real 1v1, if Morgoth's theory is to be believed.

Looks like CTDS may have patched up the Europe vote, although a poll with two SNES RPGs and a third tier Nintendo game may not be much competition though.

CT is remaining fairly steady with the European vote. Though, Earthbound is going down big time since the game was never released in Europe. Hell, even Lufia was released in Europe (according to GameFAQs) though it is dropping slowly during this time period.

Hey, at least I'm not judging CT off of weak-ass competition. Seriously, two obscure RPGs and a Yoshi game struggling with frigging EARTHBOUND?

That Yoshi game isn't struggling with Earthbound anymore, and will probably end up over 60% relative to it. And yes, you can't say anything definitive from ths competition, but that doesn't mean you can say nothing at all- and CT looks very good right now, better than any of its characters have looked in about 5 years.

I had 55.5%, but I think I saw a 56% prediction. CT still has the hurdle of the ASV to get through, so right now I'd say it probably finishes around 56%. But maybe it will gain during the ASV- that would be pretty incredible.

Chrono Trigger kicking some ass.

And Earthbound's fanbase holding up relatively well. Damn you Ness.

Yoshi's Island isn't doing too bad. I didn't expect it to give Chrono Trigger a run for its money or anything near that. I just expected it to easily beat Earthboud. Earthbound held up though.

And really, it's not fair to try to compare SMW2 to SMB3, SMB1, or SMW or SM64. Those games were all system pushers and/or incredibly hyped. SMW2 was just another good game released at the SNES's peak when tons of good games were being released. It wasn't going to be nearly as popular as those other games by default.

I'd like to see how SMW2 does against Sonic 2 or MMX though. That would have been a good matchup to see how it holds up as a "Mario" game.

Wow CT, I'm seriously impressed by this! Then again, we (or at least I) overestimated Mario World 2 after FF6/LA. It's looking to at least end above 55%, and that's good stuff.

Shouldn't take too much from this match though. What it gets against SM64 should be much more telling.

You could do that... or how about throw it up against a game like Chrono Trigger or (insert decent FF game)? I think this is pretty telling of how well it holds up. So... surprisingly well considering it was as you said just "another good game" with Mario in it.

What I would like to see is how well a game like Mario paint would hold up... that would be fun!

I hate how Paper Mario will be the only Mario game NOT advancing. That's so unfair considering it's the only N64 game in its division.

Paper Mario rSFFs Metroid Prime and sticks out to Round 3. Believe.

Why is SMW2 doing so well? That game took 1 day to beat and thankfully so. Baby Mario crying might possibly be the most annoying sound ever created in a video game. I thought a cult rpg like EB would thrive on here.

In terms of percentage, it matters. Crono in 2008 for instance lost 1.5% from the europe vote against ammy, frank west, and kaim

hardly good competition... this is probably better today.

So to say his trends aren't looking better just because of the competition is dumb imho
