The same reason we assumed DKC2 would be stronger than DKC, pretty much. Not really, since RE2 did have a sales advantage and better poll showings than the original. Mario - 10 (includes RPG, Kart) Final Fantasy - 9 (includes FFT) Zelda - 7 Metal Gear - 4 Grand Theft Auto - 4 Metroid - 3 Sonic - 3 Halo - 3 Pokemon - 3 Resident Evil – 3 Donkey Kong - 3 (includes DK arcade) Super Smash Bros - 2 Street Fighter - 2 Castlevania - 2 Mega Man - 2 Chrono - 2 Kingdom Hearts - 2 The Elder Scrolls - 2 Half- Life – 2 Kind of interesting that GTA has 4 games while others only have 3 or 2. --- Board 8 BOP: http://www.freewebs.com/charmander6000/BGE2%20BOP.xls BGE2 - Today's Match: SM64 > Castlevania: SotN Points: 41/56 |

Super Mario The Legend of Zelda Mario Kart Final Fantasy Metroid Donkey Kong Mega Man Castlevania Sonic the Hedgehog Resident Evil Sonic isn't last because at least Sonic 1 looked somewhat good, although that may have been Street Fighter 2 sucking. Mario and Zelda have looked dominant, Mario Kart looked great in both it's matches. Final Fantasy looked decent. Metroid was fine but Super Metroid kind of choked against Mario Kart. DKC1 is the only Donkey Kong game that really impressed. Mega Man looked bad, but 3 and X looked fine. CV 3 was a joke and Symphony is disappointing here. Resident Evil is just garbage. --- Like Darth Maul, the bastard child of Michael Flatley and Hellboy. -trancer1 |

Mega Man looked bad, but 3 and X looked fine. X lost a match the board thought it would win (and handily at that). MM2 bombed hard, barely cracking 56% on Pac-Man. The series is lucky MM3 did as expected, or else the series would be the biggest bust of the contest. --- Yoblazer: http://i44.tinypic.com/25z1non.jpg Watch and you'll see... someday I'll be... part of your world! |

The Oracle consensus is largely shaped by the ongoing contest results -
and no one could ignore the writing on the wall that was MM2/MM3. The
consensus will inevitably (imo, stupidly) shift in a monolithic fashion
to whatever the bracket favorite is in an even slightly debated match,
but the Oracle predicting MMX to disappoint is no great shock. --- turnturnturn your brain in turnturnturn your brain in |
