yeah, this was over from the first minute. but I think most people are
judging Goldeneye off Mario RPG and not even worrying about RE2 at this
point. 007/MK64/SMRPG/FF7 is just a weird match. --- xyzzy |

Yeah, but if Mario RPG can survive until morning, it's OVER. And after seeing Mario RPG this close to GoldenEye, we can surmise one of several things: 1. GoldenEye didn't actually get SFF'd after all and its high placing on The List was due to the format and the smaller audience 2. Street Fighter II has weakened since 2004 3. Super Mario RPG has gotten stronger since 2004 (which makes sense, honestly, since this site is still more Nintendo-oriented than it was back then, even though less so than 2 years ago) 4. It's pointless to compare these matches to old matches because everything ends up making no sense anyway 1. It's pretty likely. I've always felt that people were overestimating Goldeneye by quite a bit when it really has no reason to be a top tier game. 2. Pretty likely 3. Yes indeed. Notice that Geno first made the contest in 2005 with the Nintendo boost. 4. Bingo. Actually, awesome is an overstatement. Mario RPG is one of the weaker
Mario RPG games (Only PiT is worse, and Super Paper Mario if you really
want to count it), though it's still a solid game, and much better than
the games it's facing tonight (granted, haven't played RE2, but
considering the survival horror genre takes pride in having crappy

22 people fell off the Top 50 today. LittleConqueror, Mister_Vimes,
alxexperience, menji76, spikevegeta, LinkLegend27, bakaorochizz,
LazyVeysey, RainyLeon, SeventeenLeaves, OtaconHAL, nitethatsaysni,
Piazza31, TheCodefinder, Spekku, somberfox, Biaz, premodern, kev_13,
ShadowHog, Bubben0 and amikokyra did not have Sonic 2 > MK2 as

So, DKC2 has bombed. Looks like its true, having the board's love means jack squat when push comes to shove. Then, RE2 has gone and either laid an egg or underperformed terribly. Why do I feel like we can call quite a few matches that will come later on using these results? |

| Also, another thing to keep in mind with this
contest...Some of these matches are going to get twice as many votes as
some matches in the first Games Contest did. The fact that vote totals

Hey, for all the skepticism of Goldeneye being SFFed in 2004, SMRPG was
supposed to 55-45 it by the 2k4 stats - and it itself was SFFed by CT!
