Some Common Stat Topic Lingo Defined*~ SFF (Same Fanbase Factor) - Same Fanbase Factor is the theory that, if two contestants share a common fanbase, the weaker of the two options will underperform in a direct matchup. For instance, Link was expected to defeat Ganon with 65% of the vote in 2004, based on their 2003 values. Instead, Link collected near 88% of the vote, because the Zelda fanbase so clearly sided with him. However, take some SFF labels with a grain of salt, as many people will slap it onto any match that doesn't make total sense. This has caused a few SFF jokes, with LordOfDabu's "Some Frivolous Factor" being the funniest of them. X-Stats - Short form of Extrapolated Statistics, aka the mathematical "strength" of a contestant that can be determined based on their performance in any given matchup. See above for a detailed explanation of the x-stat process. rSFF (Reverse Same Fanbase Factor): An unproven theory that states that an SFF match will feature the expected weaker character receiving more benefit from SFF than the stronger character. For example, all evidence supports Samus being indirectly stronger than Mario, yet Mario blew Samus away during their 2005 match. That's rSFF in action, and the one case we have of the weaker statistical character winning with it. For other information, surf the contest sites a bit. 19 people fell off the Top 50 today. stevieboyc, TGG86, somberfox,
ThisIsU, IanGriggSpall, Henry2903, alimawson, kinkyminkey, Parapsyche,
ShadowHog, Dr_Corndog, KalirSavant, no1yoshichaofan, Hinky_P,
para_medic, spiderpete, Raynor7, Sidaine and brittle_bullet did not

There we go. FFVI will probably end this somewhere in the low-to-mid
40s I'd say -- nothing higher than 45% -- which will be a decent
recovery, makes it look better than it did during the board vote,
anyway. That's something a little more believable, just that LA

Up 80? Game, set, match. I'm not sure what the expectations were for
FFVI, but it makes sense that it'd be closer to SMW than SMB3 now. And

We have a tremendous track record going back years of calling matches
early and falling flat on our faces. We also have a lot of successes,
but no one remembers those, because those matches are the ones that

Also, don't count out FFVII on the basis of FFVI! FFVII has ALWAYS been a completely different beast and is always strong on this site, regardless of how Nintendo oriented it is. Remember 2005? Uhhh guys, I don't know if you just hate Link's Awakening or what, but
I really think there's more to that game than just the franchise name.

FFVI looks like it should get above 40% or so by the end, but this is still pretty sad. This is what happens during the board vote when the obvious first place game is abandoned to support 1 or 2 other games that might get second.
