2. GameFAQs let the flaming turd known as original Donkey Kong go
past PunchOut, so GameFAQs will definitely vote for crap at times. Eh, I personally consider that an exception to DK's history of chokes. It was Tetris vs. 3 pieces of turbofodder. The very little Nintendo support DK gets was just barely enough to push him over the edge. Name recognition saved the big ape's ass. --- 26/32 points - The Best. Game. Oh, I can see why original Donkey Kong advanced against Punch-Out, but it doesn't make it any less of a travesty. --- Donkey Kong Country 2's path to Best Game Ever '09. vs. Super Mario RPG, Goldeneye, Resident Evil 2. Ugh, my top 3 games in the same match. |

There really isn't much evidence for DKC to NOT have strength, but
seeing the original DK go up against Zelda, then seeing it get creamed
by Mario, and then finally seeing Diddy fall like hell with two DKC
games, Diddy Kong Racing, AND Brawl, I just don't know what to say

DKC should be strong enough to beat anything that has zero name value.
However, it's being smacked around by LttP and is against something

DKC is in my opinion, the worst of the three, but I feel it was still
pretty good. It just so happens that DKC2 came along and refined
everything that it did becoming the best game ever created and in the
process, made the original look really bad in comparison. How can you
go back from the ingenious level design of DKC2 to DKC1 where the only
way you could find certain bonus barrels was to jump into random pits

Eh, we're talking about monkeys. Not exactly the best character designs
to begin with <_<; I could see people not tying on to them as
characters. But the DKC games always seemed well respected. And it's
not really fair to tie DKC to the original DK. That's probably worse
than seeing the original Mario Bros. bomb in this contest (or WOULD it?

I should also mention that DKC almost had to place graphics over
gameplay. With the N64 still two years away and the next generation of
consoles already starting to appear, Nintendo had to pull out something

Tetris is not a sign of strength. It's like arguing Tales of Vesperia
is strong because Tales of Phantasia manages to beat Driv3r and Max

I know I'm confident DKC will bomb horribly. Which means I also know it will actually end up surprising everyone and advancing with a solid percentage, because that's what fourways like to do. There's definitely a nagging feeling that DKC will do better than expected. So by addressing this and sticking with that belief, then DKC really will bomb horribly! in these contests. No. DK is much less popular than his series, as this article http://www.dkvine.com/features/root_of.html explains. Mario is quite a bit weaker than his games as well. Remember, Mario the character put up 44% on Sephiroth in 2005. The next year, Mario the series put up 46.75% on the entire Final Fantasy series. Mario's strength comes primarily from his games, not his design. Mario's a ****ing badass in his games. He gets **** done and has no
fear whatsoever. He'll take down all kinds of ****ing ****, huge
monsters, sword-wielding badasses, Mario will wreck all their **** and

Round 1 - Division 3: Match 2 Donkey Kong Country The worst of the SNES Donkey Kongs (ducks) Doom I know it's a revolutionary game that brought a genre to the mainstream, but it has aged HORRIBLY (ducks) Streets of Rage II lol turbofodder Zelda: A Link to the Past The best Zelda (ducks) Analysis: Wow, after today's excitement, this match is a bit of a disappointment. LttP > Doom is almost completely guaranteed, barring a suprise performance by DKC where Donkey Kong has never done well against Nintendo. The real question here is will Doom be able to take advantage of the interesting situation it will be in next round to make a huge upset come to pass? Who knows, but LttP is going to dominate this match.
