you're looking at that poll wrong. stop comparing EB to CT -- CT has loads of reasons to not do well there. compare it to SMK instead. that's the one that wasn't held back. EB's a cute pick there. I don't know what to think of it. I usually ignore how EB did against CT when I use that poll because it's the most useless comparison here; way too many RPGs, CT:DS in the near-future, what have you. I only brought it up this time because EB is still the fishy one in the poll with or without that point. EB beating SMK like that is definitely the bigger issue. I brought up both since EB's fishy in two different ways; the poll most likely would have looked rather normal without EB there now that we've seen MM2/MM3 bomb. It'll be interesting to see if EB can pull another surprise soon or not. --- Prototype Shorthand, do you speak it?! |

Man, what the heck happened during that ASV? I can understand long,
drawn out stalls; I can understand mostly stalling with one character
spiking every now and then to build up a lead, what I cannot understand

I don't know how many times a Metroid game has to suck it up on this site for people to reach the obvious conclusion. - Super Metroid getting tripled by Lttp - Metroid Prime losing soundly to Wind Waker - Metroid getting quadrupled by SMB3 - Metroid Prime almost losing to Half Life BEFORE HL2. - 15% on the Zelda series - Barely beating the Pokemon series at a time when Pokemon was Xenogears fodder. - Possibly and Probably losing to Mario Kart. Metroid has been nothing but a big serious of let downs. And when you're under performing all the time, it probably means you aren't all that. Like Mega Man, Samus is the other Noble Niner who I've never quite understood what exactly they're doing there. Their games have far more logical popularity so whatever it is with their fanbase that lets them ride the Nintendo wagon to the top it doesn't work quite so well with their games. |

- Barely beating the Pokemon series at a time when Pokemon was Xenogears fodder. Pokemon in 2006 is clearly not Gold & Silver in 2004. I think its sporadic tendencies needing much more constant attention
(as opposed to seeing traditional comebacks or normal wire-to-wire
matches) and the unfortunate disaster that is Sonic 3 being killed is
what's making this a more frustrating close match to watch. I still enjoy it, mind you -- this is just my guess on people in general here. --- Prototype Shorthand, do you speak it?! |

Wow, this is insane. When I first saw the updated poll results, I
thought Sonic was the one on par with Metroid, not Mario Kart. How the
hell does Mario Kart have this much strength? It lost pretty

My reaction to the random spiking was foul play as well, but it doesn't
seem to correlate with vote totals. If there was cheating, I would
expect that one game's gains would consistently come when votals for
that update period were high, but that doesn't seem to be happening.
(It's worth noting that it did happen with Battletoad's rallying.)
