Doom will be a very tall task for DKC. It put up 57% on Earthbound
before Doom 3 and GameFAQs general increased acceptance of shooters and
the whole "Xbox family" of games. Can DKC beat Earthbound? Sure, but
we're not sure if it crushes it. Of course, there's also a Zelda in the

Also, the "progenitor respect" theory might actually apply more to Doom
than to DKC (not like it'll matter much when the #3 game on the site is

Nope. Sonic 1 just beat Street Fighter II very easily, so there's no

In 2k4 SFF'd Super Metroid was just above Doom in the unadjusted
extrapolated standing. SM fought aLttp directly and Doom fought FF3 who
fought a Lttp so the path between them if pretty short. If you throw in
LFF from Mario Kart, Doom is looking pretty good. Mario Kart just needs
to get crushed by aLttP and LFF'd a bit by Super Metroid. --- Shall I take you with me? To the place in this town where wishes come true... |

| I'll eat my hat if FFIV is beaten by FFI. Yes, FFI was the first game in the series, but FFI has nothing up against FFIV. Noone would even dream about Legend of Zelda beating Zelda: A Link to the Past. The same applies here. |

| It's not quite the same. Your scenario would be
accurate if it was FF1 vs. FF3/6 (no one would take that upset), but

Well, FFIV have the greatest line in the FF series: Tellah: "You Spoony Bard!" I think you underestimate the FF fans if you think they would vote on FFI over the more accessible FFIV. FFIV was revolutionary story-wise, atleast in this series. |

| SMK cut 64 from 4:00-5:00, and has knocked off
more since then (especially that last update). SM better hope its
day-vote is decent -- for as much praise as it's had and as badly as it
beat SMK in the Top 100 List (#24 to #61), this would be a damaging

looks like Europe killed Super Metroid. if that's the case, Super
Metroid needs to win the day vote to beat SMK -- something I don't feel

She looks toast, argh. Regardless, win or lose, this looks great for
Doom. Even if Mario Kart folds worse in the next round, having the two
weaker Nintendo games go 50/50 right now is the best thing Doom could

I may be in the minority here, but I am pleased to see Sonic fall flat
on his face. I am also pleased to see SMK do so well because the
original Mario Kart is easily the best of the series.Great short
tracks, no stupid blue shells and no stupid rubber band AI! --- Yay - FastFalcon is the guru champion of awesomeness. |

| On the subject of Europe, what type of games do Europeans generally go for? There are games that have relatively even appeal in the major gaming regions and some that don't (Metroid in Japan vs America is a good example of this). |

Suppose there was a 14:28 update and a 14:33 update for a match. Which update would you use to calculate the trends for the DSV? I would have used the 14:33 update since it was the first update that came in after the start of the ASV. There's only been one time where I actually posted a trend chart for a contest match and that was for last year's bonus match. The trends I calculated were identical to what Leon got, but only for the EBV, PHV, FNV, and BSV. There were some very small differences (about 0.01-0.03% differences) in the trends I calculated for the DSV, ASV, and SNV. That's because if no update lands exactly on the time that there is a voting period change (14:30 for the ASV start, 22:00 for the SNV start, etc), I use the first update that came in after the start of a voting period change. I usually use the time that's closest to the trend change, but it

update at the time of the change. DKC... now there's a game I can't see advance. Hard to imagine anyone voting for it with LttP there. *raises hand* Glad I have Doom to round 3! And I knew I was right by saying I didn't understand why Mario Kart wasn't more popular around here because like everyone I know in real life who plays video games loves Mario Kart and even some who don't! update at the time of the change. I figured you would have done that. Glad I have Doom to round 3! I have it getting up to round 2 and being eliminated there. I think the strength difference of an un-SFFed Doom and an un-SFFed Super Metroid/Super Mario Kart is too great for Doom to capitalize those two games being SFFed by LttP and sneak through with second place. The thing with SFF is that if the weaker game is significantly weaker than the game being SFFed, no amount of SFF will push the stronger game below the level of the weaker game. Example: OoT/LttP/Zelda 1/Doom OoT will clearly SFF the other 2 Zelda games, but LttP and Zelda 1 are so significantly stronger than Doom that the SFF from OoT will not push it below Doom's level. And I think this would be the case in Doom's round 2 match. Hmm. Sonic sucking, surprising to me (though considering the origin of
the competition, it really shouldn't any more). SM looks powerful based
on the proportion it has with Sonic... but that takes zero account of
how crazy close friggin' Super Mario Kart
is getting to what is quite possibly Samus' most popular game (aside
from SSBs of course... though I've always been on the Prime wagon). I'm going to randomly assume due to fanboyism of all three games that instead of Metroid folding to Nintendo this is SM meeting expectations and SMK being unexpectedly strong. Although, should it really be unexpected? - this is the only Mario Kart game worth playing, after all. Anybody notice that every time Mario gets a good update, Sonic croaks? I never noticed it, but now that I checked it out, I do notice that a lot of Sonic's bad updates (under 23%) are generally accompanied by good updates for Mario Kart (above 37%). Crystalis and RCR suck at all times. If I had to comment on those two games, I would say Crystalis doesn't have any clear best or worst time. Yeah, I think this is more of a "Where the **** were you in the series
contest Mario Kart????" But yeah, my fears have been confirmed.
Individual Mario Kart games may be the SSB-lites that I thought they
would be. Just looks like all the "classic" series gained more respect
from the voters back then. Guess that explains Sonic doing well on

this is a pathetic morning vote for MK. I'm inclined to think that
Europe just overwhelmingly backed Mario Kart and SMK is winning the
morning vote, but it looks tame in comparison. this suggests that

Over the past 4 updates, Super Metroid got 3 spikes and only got
stalled once. I think it's ready to pull away from Mario Kart now that
