If we're being fair, some of those pics last year really did kinda
cross the line. There's a difference between being creative and being

Cloud vs. Snake vs. Sephiroth vs. Kirby will always be my favorite
simply because I can pretend to myself that it subconsciously made

Reptile in the upper left corner, because of how his head is turned.
Sub-Zero and Scorpion anywhere else, I think they should go on opposing
sides of the pic to reference their rivalry, and Mileena to complete
the ninja theme and get some jug factor thrown in. Jade would be cool
too, but alas, she also has no character icon for that. Raiden would be
the best replacement for Mileena I think, he's pretty recognizable in

Yeah, the main problem I have with a lot of the 'creative' ones is that
the characters are hard to see or obscured by a lot of clutter. Stuff like your Brawl one is fine, it's a smart idea, each character is represented well and it isn't all over the place. But you can go ahead and keep playing the 'people just like complaining' angle if you want. --- Kleenex...at work! |

I'm cool with people taking some freedoms with the pics. There are some
I don't like and don't think are good, yes, but for the most part
they're still interesting to see and effectively bring in voters,

I don't think I made a single pic that wasn't well-received (mostly because I didn't make many pics later on and carefully chose what themes to go with). The complaints still confuse me. Some pics should have never seen the light of day, yeah, but the amount of vehemence during that time was crazy. I remember pretty much everyone calling for the Pics Topic's head. The "pic clique" was extremely uppity about their pictures last year.
Whenever someone in the stats topic offered criticism, whether it be
good or bad, about any of the pictures that were being used in the
match, you guys would get extremely defensive about it and I think that
turned a lot of people off. I made just as many pics as anyone last year and not all of them were fantastic, the vast majority were very plain. But that's fine, I don't have a problem with people telling me that, and I'm certainly not going to try and defend every picture I made if people didn't like it. --- Kleenex...at work! |
