Even if people supposedely weren't thinking MM2 was going far, it's
still a huge flop because a lot of people were predicting it to get

There were several sequels to Oregon Trail with graphical and gameplay updates, right? A lot of kids from different gaming generations grew up with Oregon Trail. |

Some things to think about before we hate MM2 for making us feel so wrong: 1) Let's get Mega Man a pic that's at least American box art. Sprites and pics are cool too, but it should at least be his known ugly box-art. He should fare better pic-wise because of that. 2) http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=3059 We know Pac-Man > Donkey Kong here, at least. 3) I thought it was believed Tetris SFF'd Pong. That should mean MM2 naturally will have a harding time matching it. 4) We should wait a little longer because we don't know if OT will stay relatively stable or if it falls over dead later tonight, If it falls, MM2 may be the one to rise. MM2's not out of the match yet, though yeah, Tetris should probably be the favorite if things don't pick up. --- Prototype Shorthand, do you speak it?! |

oregon trail IS legit. I figured a weaker mega man not SFFing Pac Man would doom Oregon Trail. Something like 40% wouldn't have been good, but it would have at least
been respectable. (My original Oracle was 41%, bumped up after Tetris'
very good performance yesterday.) This is just awful, like Magus in

Oregon Trail is probably going to have some pretty nutty trends. I
dunno what to make of this match, but I wouldn't be surprised if come

but on the other hand, it might do even better because of the dead time
and rallying so who really knows here. all I care about is Mega Man
bombing to hell though. OT and Pac-Man don't really matter after this
match, but Mega Man's got three games in several debatable matches

Yeah but consider the push OT is getting from the board and the fact that these numbers seem about right for pac-man. Mega in NN and it will be interesting to see how tetris does against two games people actually care about, as opposed to three who the eff cares games. I mean come on! Pongs got name recognition on level of space invaders so thats fair. But DK as compared to OT, not even close. It's OT by a mile, especially considering board support for it and what time it is. And Pac man vs. Punch-out. OF COURSE PAC-MAN's stronger. Mega is facing much stiffer competition than Tetris. Tetris is the universal I dont care vote and last round was an I dont care match. I wouldnt be terribly shocked if Mega And OT/pac man beat Tetris next round. I'm not expecting it but it wouldn't send me into a shock. Plus Im willingto bet SFF for Tetris/ Pacman/ DK( being all extremely classic arcade games). In those circumstances Mega wins. |

I figured OT would be legit, but beating Pac-Man would still be very

All things considered, it's probably the most unique game of the
contest. One of the reasons I picked it was the theory it would hit the
voter with instant nostalgia. I mean, millions of kids were allowed to

Liking Oregon Trail's chances a lot more than Punch-Out's yesterday.
It's seeming pretty consistent right now. I also think it'll have more
ASV presence-- I'm sure most school kids have played it in the lower
grades at least. I mean it really became a force in my school from
4th-6th grade. Kids that are in HS could've played in say,
Kindergarten, when it was fresh. --- So I lost a bet to creativename (yeah...hardly shocking). Like usual, I should've known better! FACT: Halo 3 was 1000% responsible for Master Chief's boost. |

This is just awful, like Magus in 2007 style "how in the world is he doing so bad on Phoenix/Bomberman/Crash awful. Oh it's definitely awful. But the biggest flop of the contest is probably some unforeseen-by-most thing yet to come - and probably in a more important match, with more late round chain reactions and such. I have Mega Man>Tetris next round, but really, MM2's path is not that important. Oh yeah, there's a nontrivial chance Oregon Trail outright wins the
poll in the US. Megaman, while bad in Europe, should still be way

Oh, yeah, I certainly agree there. We could have things like FFX losing
in the second round (when the vast majority of Gurus have it in the
finals) or something crazier that's completely unexpected. MM2's going

I'm not sure that OT will have starkly varying trends. Kids have been
playing this game since people really WERE trailblazing an Oregon

Oh yeah. Unless this my theory on Tetris/ Mega being near equal
strength is true I am mega-screwed by this match. I have mega Man 2
going quite some distance, even beating SMB1. But it was my "cinderella". Nonetheless, it will be quite seriously painful if it loses to tetris . |
