I know for sure a good chunk of the midwest is on spring break, I've

I'm not expecting much from Mario 1. Call it a hunch, but I can't see

I dunno dude, Punch-Out is one of the most well-known NES/Arcade games
out there. It's not Mario or Pac-Man by any means, but losing to DK
here would be nothing short of a collapse in my eyes. Punch-Out had

You have to remember though, you were around for the NES. Most of the
people visiting this site are 90's kids nowadays, so they'll go with
the names they recognize such as DK, Space Invaders and Tetris.
Punch-out will need a last minute push to win this, because the ASV

Because everybody and their grandmother (literally in my case) has
played Mario 1. Zelda 1 being popular is no fluke - look at The List
(#30) - but so is Mario 1 (#22, Mario World is #23). I don't think that
just the fact that it's Zelda swings it, though it's not impossible

Well I took personally that stuff you were railing on me about during
Battle of the Bands. I put a lot of effort into those contests of mine,
and people accusing me of being some shrew jackass that rigs my own
contest annoys me. I like to think I make the best effort possible to
catch alts and all that, but of course a close match will be in

By even trying to compare Punch-Out to Master Chief you voided any
argument you make regarding this match. DK won the morning decisively,
morning winners typically take the ASV as well. Seems pretty cut and

the day vote takes place between 6 and noon and the rest of the day is

I've had faith in Tetris > MM2 from the beginning, and I don't get
where faith in the reverse comes from. Mega Man being strong doesn't
mean all 100 of his games will follow suit. Tetris is part of the NES
holy grail, along with Mario 1, Mario 3, Final Fantasy and Zelda 1. I'm
pretty sure all 5 of these aforementioned games would SFF-skull**** any
other NES game. There might be a VERY rare exception here and there
(Contra, maybe even MM2 and 3), but I see no NES game challenging the

By the by, that was the third fifteen minute update Punch-Out!! has won
since 3:15. (One at 4:15 to stem the bleeding a bit, the other was a
four vote win following one of DK's best updates at 9:30 and I'd say it

Ulti, it really just comes from gut. I don't consider myself a pro at
these game contests by any means, but if there's one thing I did manage
to do with virtually zero knowledge of the stats or contests, it was
bullseye every Division 8/16 match last contest. (aside from RCR >
pong and LttP > FF3 dammit) Okay, that's probably not that
impressive considering those were the easiest generations-- but still,
I trust my gut when it comes to the old school stuff. Mega Man 2 is just one of those iconic NES games, I think, whereas I don't really think Tetris is one to hold up against such a game. Everyone knows Tetris, but I don't think its actual fanbase is strong enough to hold up against a top tier NES game, which I think Mega Man 2 definitely is. --- No problem! Oh, and also the fact that I don't buy for a second that Mega Man can
manage to be strong with 100 fodder games. Game strength isn't additive
and the guy has to be popular for SOME reason. I don't buy "keep
shoving him in our face and he'll become popular" that doesn't fly.
