Mega Man's strength probably isn't any one individual game -- it's all
the games and series within the series that give the character his
popularity. Still, MM2 shouldn't have any problem with Tetris, a game

The Mega Man games can bomb. That would still leave more than enough room for them to beat a pushover like Tetris. Seriously, that division is so weak I think we're forgetting how little that game is actually worth. LoZ was always a lock to murder Tetris, but look at what Tetris did
before that match. You're insane if you think it's not an elite-level

In preparation for the looming contest, I've read just about every post in this thread... People think there was SFF in MGS/RE back in 04? I don't really see why would be the case. transience 2004 is just completely screwed up. 2008 will be, too. that's just how games are. (I'm assuming you mean 2009) I wouldn't say it's *always* how games are - but it will definitely be the case when matches are idiotically divided into generations. Which, coincidentally enough, is happening again. (how do you make the same stupid mistake twice? Ugh. Even back before the contest in 04 everyone here knew it was a bad idea) Now there is something to this tending to be the case with games moreso than characters - characters aren't quite as tied to generations as specific games are, so games will tend to have more SFF/LFF stuff going on. But with a non-generational bracket it would be much less of a problem. You're absolutely right though - this year's %age results will be even *more* complete gibberish than 4-way stats usually are - and that's saying something! Will be lots of weird stuff that, really, we shouldn't even bother trying to explain just because it's "unexpected". KH Because no one likes the original Metroid. Mega Man 2, in contrast, is a stellar experience even today. What are you talking about? Metroid was a pretty big game back when I was a kid in that era. Everyone knew about Samus and "the ending". The franchise grew bigger, and Mega Man games were more popular back then (largely because there was more of them as opposed to one Metroid), but I wouldn't say the difference was big. charmander Watch Tetris pull an L-Block Actually one thing that I randomly wondered about was Tetris getting some L-Block joke vote boost. But I discounted that pretty quickly, if that it should be pretty minor and a non-factor. And in terms of actual joke bandwagon possibilities, yeah, Oregon Trail is obviously the pick there. Ulti I'm still trying to figure out why Mega Man 2 gets lumped in with the NES games that could cause all other NES games to collapse. Zelda 1, Mario 1, Mario 3, Final Fantasy and Tetris is the entire list. I have MM2>Tetris, and didn't think much about it at the time, but now that you point it out I suppose that should be a questionable match. I've always thought people overrated the Mega Man franchise and its games - this could be a case of that.
