Yeah, we finally know why Sonic team has such a great morning vote while Mega Man/Crono's have sucked. Really puts those huge swings in matches involving those 3 into perspective.

Man does england suck.

What's even odder is the differences between Canada and the US. I've noticed that Mega Man does better north of the border while Sonic does better to the south.

If England didn't exist, Mega Man would have beaten Sephiroth.

**** you england

Sora still ends up way too close to Squall in every match but one. It just perplexes me.

Putting the idea of Sora starting to get some of the better end of SFF when it comes to his and Squall's roles in Kingdom Hearts (unlike in KH1, Sora > Squall in KH2 generally)... he and Squall have only had three matches together. One was when Aeris was involved (and she obviously was hurting Squall much more than she did Sora), and another was when Squall looked goofier than any of Sora's clown shoes.

But the third one is the one that speaks volumes about the FFX/KH split, I think - when the chips came down to Squall vs Sonic, Sora's fanbase abandoned him in droves en route to Squall nearly upending a completely unhindered Sonic. I wouldn't make many assumptions about that match - but if FFX finds itself in trouble, it'll ravage every ounce of KH's husk in an attempt to pull it off.

Oh, and I guess there was the Cloud match... but honestly, that's one of Sora's biggest disappointments as far as I'm concerned. He had all the opportunity in the world to finish ahead of Squall considering how much we knew the guy already gets decimated by Cloud, and he did nothing of the sort.

Hm.. I wonder if Auron would SFF Sora now.

FFX/KH does sound like a possibility now, but at the same time, there's still only one Nintendo option once again, but then there's no Cloud.

I really don't know if Yoshi would have won if it was just Sora/Squall..

Sora. Aeris has disappointed in almost every match she's been in in 2006 and 2007.

Yoshi's percentage on Squall was remarkably consistent between rounds (42.4% to 42.1%), though Fox dropped fairly significantly against Sora (43.8% to 39.9%). That seems to suggest that the double SFF more or less canceled out with Square getting a slightly better end of the bargain...and that Yoshi would have likely done quite a bit better if he didn't have Fox holding him back. In the FFX/KH match, the other two games are very much unrelated to each other.

With all that said, how much closer would have Yoshi came to beating Sora if that's the case?

I'd say it would have been a close match perhaps.

Methinks that the stronger you are, the less the boost one gets from a new game. Meaning that KH3 may not do that much for Sora.

well, I guess that will remain a mystery.

Though Yoshi is clearly out of Squall's league in this format, but FFX/KH/Metroid Prime/MGS2 are actually all reasonably close.

How awesome would it be if it was a four way finisher. We've yet to get that kind of match.

I think FFX wins that one; it's too far above the other games to lose from the LFF. Either Prime or MGS2 takes second.

how far above are we talking? FFX/WW are arguably a debatable match and WW scored 55% on Prime.

ZFS | Posted 4/2/2009 7:13:10 PM | message detail
Yeah, I agree there. I've always thought FFX would take first in that one, then either MGS2 or MP for second. I think MGS2 is probably stronger than Prime today, but between the standout factor and whatever weirdness might happen with FFX and MGS2 (something I think is a possibility, anyway), Prime's probably a good bet there. Don't think FFX has anything to worry about, with it being so much stronger than this group.

FFX/TWW isn't really a debatable match, if you ask me -- FFX should win that without much trouble. Twilight Princess is the debatable one, I think.

well, i'm sure back then it would have been no more than a 51/49 afair. FFX is above all of these games, but unless they dropped or FFX gained, I wouldn't really say it's that high.

I've still got MGS2 advancing there, but Prime's probably the safe pick, even if it's more than likely not the second strongest game.

I'm not nearly as up on MGS games as some people here are, but there shouldn't be too much doubt that Metal Gear as a whole has seen a big rise in popularity since 2004.

MarioSuperstar | Posted 4/2/2009 7:20:20 PM | message detail
Well logically, if Snake grows as a character and becomes accustomed to an entirely new fanbase. Then, has a PS3 exclusive game nearly beat the most anticipated on GameFAQs, i'm pretty sure MGS has grown since 2004.

Whether MGS2 gets the boost or not is debatable, but it likely did.

FFX/WW may or may not have been close in 2004 depending on just how much Starcraft improved from round 3 to round 4, but I don't think it'd have any trouble with it today. I'd guess FFX beats Prime worse than 60-40 today.

I don't trust Starcraft's strength and therefore WW's. After its surprise win against WW Starcraft had 4 days of hype before its match against Melee. By that time it was Melee vs battlenet.
