Some Common Stat Topic Lingo Defined*~ SFF (Same Fanbase Factor) - Same Fanbase Factor is the theory that, if two contestants share a common fanbase, the weaker of the two options will underperform in a direct matchup. For instance, Link was expected to defeat Ganon with 65% of the vote in 2004, based on their 2003 values. Instead, Link collected near 88% of the vote, because the Zelda fanbase so clearly sided with him. However, take some SFF labels with a grain of salt, as many people will slap it onto any match that doesn't make total sense. This has caused a few SFF jokes, with LordOfDabu's "Some Frivolous Factor" being the funniest of them. X-Stats - Short form of Extrapolated Statistics, aka the mathematical "strength" of a contestant that can be determined based on their performance in any given matchup. See above for a detailed explanation of the x-stat process. rSFF (Reverse Same Fanbase Factor): An unproven theory that states that an SFF match will feature the expected weaker character receiving more benefit from SFF than the stronger character. For example, all evidence supports Samus being indirectly stronger than Mario, yet Mario blew Samus away during their 2005 match. That's rSFF in action, and the one case we have of the weaker statistical character winning with it. For other information, surf the contest sites a bit. I switched Sonic 3 > Super Metroid to Super Metroid > Sonic 3 in
round 1. Switched KH > VC to KH > MP in round 1, and switched
MGS2 > FFX to FFX > MGS2 in round 2. Also switched SSBM > Halo

Conflicting statements here. The ONLY argument I've seen for Earthbound is that useless VC poll. Metroid Prime will beat the tar out of MGS2, and with KH there, probably beat FFX as well. I'm more worried that MGS2 might edge out FFX and advance with Prime. And yeah, I get that Wind Waker could injure SSBM a bit, but GTA3 or
Diablo 2 will also hurt Halo I think. The entire top half of D128 is

Leon, do you have FF8 beating out Starcraft in Round 2? Darn right I do! And I don't think Diablo II hurts Halo much at all, and definitely not like WW hurts SSBM. Of course, I'm wondering if WW really hurts SSBM at all, which is part of my reasoning for switching to FFX winning the second match outright. I just can't figure out why in the world Squall and Sora don't LFF each other. It just doesn't make any sense. But at the same time, I'm going to bank on FFX/KH not LFFing each other there, for whatever it's worth. We'll see what happens. How will Diablo hurt Halo? GTA III I can understand but I really doubt

Where are you getting this not SFFing eachother thing? Sonic's terribad
performance? That whole situation in 2007 confused me, until I saw
Sonic last year, now it makes sense. Sonic just sucked that much. The
only reason he didn't improve was because Snake was also SFFing Squall

Xbox and the PC strike me as having very, very overlapped fanbases. I understand people arguing "standout factor" and all that, but it
doesn't always pan out that way (Remember people saying Ness was going
to beat Liquid/Alucard/Zidane in 2007 because he was Nintendo against
three PSX characters?). MGS2 is different enough to avoid that problem

Mewtwo beat the absolute crap out of both of them despite being weak
and overrated thanks to Bowser in 2007. And managed to look good on
Cloud to boot. Cloud doesn't SFF both of them without them having that

FFX > MGS2 is how I go on that match. I'm not too high on Prime, but
it is the only Nintendo game there. I'm not worried about FFX not
advancing, though, because the 'PS2' support, or however you want to
put it, is most likely to go in its favor than not. --- doth thou desire the power |

PC and X-box are very different fanbases. PC gamers tend to be hardcore
as opposed to the really casual X-Box crowd. The only thing Diablo and

Old Square is unknown in Europe, that includes Chrono Trigger For some reason, as said before, europeans hate Kingdom Hearts Other than that, Europeans like New Square a bit more than what is usual in North America.FF9 in particular is more popular in Europe than in America. Link's Awakening is really starting to scare me now. On one hand, it
could be comparable to Super Mario Land, and I'd easily take X over

It's crazy. Look at any polls involving Mega Man characters or Sonic
characters. It's completely lopsided. Will be interesting to see the

do very well in South America, for whatever the reason, particularly X
