these arguments are awful. anybody holding Kirby 2k4 = 2k5 is doomed
from the start. calling for FFT over MGS after everything we've seen in

I'm basically the most hesitant-to-call-stuffing/rallying (well,
stuffing anyway) person ever, but if you look at trends in that match,
Hogger clearly was being rallied. I remember he just randomly took off
at some point during the DSV and closed a gap of several hundred votes
in an hour, among other things. And it's not like there was much of a

Yeah, but anything related to Blizzard always gets rallied. Crediting
one guy instead of the entire community of the game is stupid. Whether
you believe Albion or not (and my latest Battle of the Bands topic
proved once and for all what a full-of-**** crybaby he is), any one of
a hundred other people would have done that same exact rally. Ramza and
Laharl were screwed when the match was close at the start, not when
Hogger actually came back on him. Warcraft is just one of those

And heres another sign of proof at 10:18 (about the first update after I got up, I was estimating about 10:30) Hogger was at 16.18% By 11:18, he was at 16.78%... gained .60% in just an hour. Then lets look at his percentage at 9:18... 16.38%. And if you want more proof... from 9:18-10:18, Hogger was getting about 12-16% per update. From 10:18-11:18, he was getting 18-24% an update. Don't believe me? I think the funniest thing about that match is that without rallying, Laharl probably wins. Just the idea of two characters needing backup support to stave off Laharl... --- FastFalcon believed in Snake. I didn't. |

While Ramza did look a lot worse last year, taking his match with
Kirby, and his match last year in the way you presented it is absurd. For starters, Kirby sucked before 2005. He lost to Jill Valentine before the Ramza match, and lost to Alucard immediately after. Kirby was a lowcarder at the time, putting Ramza a bit above the fodder line. And Laharl is definitely not as weak as he used to be. Disgaea has gone from a completely obscure Board 8 type game to a niche series that actually has fans. I would take Laharl to beat the crap out of Vyse if they ever had a rematch. I'm talking 65%-35% given Vyse's falling into consideration. --- Like Darth Maul, the bastard child of Michael Flatley and Hellboy. -trancer1 |

For starters, Kirby sucked before 2005. He lost to Jill Valentine before the Ramza match, and lost to Alucard immediately after. Barely losing to Alucard still makes Ramza drop pretty bad. Alucard was still big that year. He scored about 30% on Sephiroth which makes him a pretty good mid-carder and not a 'low end'. 2002 Kirby is irrelevant. And no matter how you look at it, Laharl is nowhere near the fodder. Just on the off chance that people still don't know - this doesn't actually happen anymore and it hasn't for years. Server maintenance isn't all done in one chunk anymore so Tuesdays are no different than any other day. The only suspicious thing about Hogger/Laharl is that according to
Geolocation, Europe was the reason Hogger won, despite the fact that
WoW is less popular there than in America, once again according to

Looking through my bracket, there's only 2 matches really bugging me
aside from Starcraft's half-div. And both of these matches haven't had
much debate. Chrono Trigger Castlevania: SOTN Yoshi's Island Super Mario 64 I took CT > SM64 here without much thought, but looking again, and considering Castlevania's relatively recent port, it has a really good shot of advancing here. Not sure I want to pull the trigger on it yet, but some food for thought. Metroid Prime Paper Mario GTA: Vice City Kindgom Hearts Once again, took Prime > KH without much consideration, but they weren't that far from eachother in 2004 IIRC, and KH2 was infinitely more successful than KH1. Throw in a little Paper Mario SFF and KH looks pretty sexy... --- Like Darth Maul, the bastard child of Michael Flatley and Hellboy. -trancer1 |

I think I've locked my bracket as it is now. So I present what I see as my upsets: SMB > LoZ, I see this coming down to the fact that LoZ is unplayable now compared to SMB and that's what non Nintendo fans will favour. MM3 reaching the quarters. Don't think I've seen many bandying that around, but I have the FF games killing each other off and then MM3 outsurviving SMW against SMB3. Doom beating S. Metroid in round 2 is nice I guess. Doubt that's the consensus. LttP > FFVII for all the same reasons as everyone else who is doing it. CT and FFIII(VI). RBY > MGS purely for fangirl reasons. I believe that MM might beat it in R1 and R2 but yeah. I also went with MGS > FFT to allow this to happen although it's a possibility IMO that MGS > GS happens. Halo > Diablo II. Yeah. Nevermind, I'm leaving it as it is. CoD4 > SSBB in Round 2. I think the two big N games hurt each other enough for CoD4 to take it and Brawl as the stronger game is the one to survive. Results from the quarters to the end are all cookie I believe. 4 Zeldas, 2 FFs, SMB3 and MGS4 move on. Then 2 Zeldas and 2 FFs with FFVII > OoT. There is not a chance in hell the quarters turn out that way. Something will go horribly wrong. I just don't know what. --- Your thoughts please. |
