As for the Castlevania 3/Civilization/Sonic/Street Fighter 2 match, the
general consensus is that Sonic and SF2 advance, right? I don't believe
Castlevania 3 will be that strong, and Civilization....will be lucky to

Yeah, it is plausible but the safe pick is SF2 > Sonic. SF has had
an HD Remix on 360/PS3 and SF4 to give the overall series a boost.
Sonic has had mediocre games for a good decade right now and really

What's the deal with MGS3/Halo 2 in Round 1? I have H2 > MGS3, but
I'm thinking of swapping that (I figure the Nintendo vote will favor

From: MarioSuperstar | #217 Halo has been declining ever since Halo 3 came out, I went on XBox Live and was amazed how how tiny the player base is now (I think everyone moved onto CoD). Halo has to fight D2 and GTA3 in the first round and is in good shape to advance though all three will put pressure on one another. GTA is hurting more than Halo is, I think, Chinatown Wars has flopped and GTA4 has disappeared off the map even with Lost and the Damned not giving it much life. Diablo 2, on the other hand, has Diablo 3's announcement giving it a big boost and I think it'll be between Halo and Diablo 2. Diablo 2 only gets first if Blizzard rallying is big, but I'm not betting on it. It will be gone come Round 2, SSBM and Zelda: Wind Waker I have advancing because I don't think there is a Nintendo split there (at least not one big enough to allow Halo an edge). Halo 2 has the same issue with a Blizzard game, and a big one at that one. But where it is screwed is the presence of a MGS game which will finish ahead of it one way or another. WoW, as mentioned, is Blizzard`s top dog right now and the one to look for when it comes to Blizzard rallying. As mentioned, Halo is reeling and in a close match like this I don`t have faith in Halo 2. Those are just my observations. --- Today's Subliminal Thought Is: |

The thing about WoW is that it's gonna have to rely almost entirely on

Halo's not the strongest of games or anything, but it's no GTA either.
WoW's an interesting pick there because of rallying potential, but in

I switched to WoW as soon as I realized it can take out a Halo game and
GTA game in consecutive rounds. Something about that just seems

Also, I'm not expecting much (any?) more from Halo than I am from GTA.
Halo 3 bombed so hard in the 2007 GotYs, and, despite such a thing
seeming impossible, Chief laid an even grander stinkbomb last year.
This is destiny for WoW and its annoying and entertaining legion of

If there is one series that will choke in this contest: it will be Halo. If anything, Grand Theft Auto is in even more danger of choking. No one cares about GTA anymore. Chief wasn't up to his crazy 2007 levels (game fuel'd), but he didn't
do all that poorly. Halo 3's another thing, but COD4 probably didn't
help there. I guess you could say the fact it got beat by COD4 says it

I think WoW will be the ultimate test of Blizzard rallying. I'm being
pretty serious, everyone talks about StarCraft 2004 but I think this
year we will put Blizzard games to the test and see what they are made

Halo doesn't have to be at 2007 Chief levels in order to get by some of these matches. Brawl/Galaxy is the last thing I need to finalize as well. It's such a
pain, and it's made even more annoying by the fact that if only one of
them moves on (as most of us think will be the case), then that game is
locked to move on with MGS4 against TP and RE4, which makes a huge
cluster**** out of that match as well. I wanted to go with Galaxy at first (more critically acclaimed, comparable sales, far less backlash), but god damn, it really has disappeared from sight. It's not even in the Top 100 FAQs, and it's also absent from the top ten Wii FAQs and boards.
