Ah, here comes the "I can do what the crew does" attitude.

No offense to those left out, but generally Moltar does a fine job picking the best people to help out with logic and information to back them up. It's made doubly easy to do that when those people are often the most likable or at least interesting. Lopen is the exception because of his crazy-often upsets, and even then he still uses more logic/information than most other people shooting for wild upsets and he's still one of the most likable.

People who didn't make the crew but still want to write should definitely write their own, but don't decide you deserve to be on the crew just because you may have done better last year bracket-wise. It's a matter of respect from the CS&D-community and willingness from Board 8 to read sixty-three analysis(es?) by you, and not everybody fits that. I was fortunate enough to make it once (which was only for the Series Contest at that; where are my other thirty-two matches?!), and I've not made it back on despite winning prize money since then. It's not that easy to get into.

BT's "anything looks good if you word it right"- and Albion's "I did better than them"-mentalities don't apply, and there's no need to try belittling the crew.

This. Sure the crew messes up a few times here and there, but the point isn't getting matches right; it's making a good, interesting writeup. I left after a few contests of one-sentence efforts, not because I sucked at predicting. Moltar will make great choices and has guest writeups, which is fine by me.

I'm saving all my effort for the PCA. I'm coming back with a vengeance! Nothing can stop me from a games contest PCA =p

haha, mad respect for the crew here.

I love Moltar and the Crew and all, but come on now. Moltar picks his friends from the CS&D topic and that's it. The same people will get in, and if he believes he can handle more, the next CS&D regular will get in. It's not some once in a lifetime millionaire lottery ticket win. It's up to Moltar who gets in or not. Your picks don't really matter at all.

Too many people on the crew. I don't even know who's on it, but I can guess people like tranny, Leon, Karma Hunter, and the like are shoe ins because they are like the faces of these topics. Lopen for comedy, NGamer for his stats, then probably someone like xCarv or someone else. Not everyone who is friends with Moltar will get in.

Okay, now this doesn't make any sense. Don't sell yourself short; I'm pretty sure everyone here likes you to some extent, and at least I do (unless good terms means you not liking other people, in that case...whoops).

No no no.

charmander can get a bit too analytical for me (all those stats, in my opinion, are just clutter), but I appreciate his daily posts - they're good stuff. I always feel kinda bad because he's been doing it for forever and there isn't a Crew spot for him. I know the Crew can probably seem elitist and exclusive to those outside of it, but we don't mean it to be that way - it just comes down to who's willing to do it every day and be interesting for 63 straight days. trust me, by the 50th day you're kinda worn out.

nobody's stopping anybody from posting an analysis in here.

Too bad we can't see the totals for each region on the current poll

Once the current poll ends, then you can view the results for each region, which I predicted would be the case before that last poll ended.

Since there aren't any easy ways to view the region results for those 4 countries.

I can't even view the region results for Japan (which would use "JP" as the country code).

LttP>FF7 in the quarters is such a sexy upset pick, but I just can't pull the trigger.

Go ahead and pull it. FF III/VI and CT may be SNES games, but people are really overusing that argument. I'd buy the "FFVII is just that god damned beastly" argument before I buy a clear lie like that, because we all know those two games will hurt FFVII a lot more, SNES or not. FF III/VI is very likely the Final Fantasy title that will do best against VII (though it'll still get beat up pretty badly), and CT is the third Square RPG in the poll. Link to the Past is the only Nintendo option to choose from, and it easily stands out as such. Besides, it isn't like this is Mario Galaxy or something. Link to the Past is the second strongest game in Nintendo's arsenal - not very far behind OoT before SFF is taken into account. Absolutely no one would have FFVII winning the match if OoT was the opponent, so I think a slightly weaker game like LttP should still be the favorite, consoles be damned.

Big Bob | Posted 3/30/2009 11:33:33 PM | message detail
So why are people so ready to watch OoT fall instead of FFVII?

Zelda's the game series that's still pumping out games for the average gamer. Twilight Princess was well-received, and OoT can be downloaded on the Virtual Console, as well as Link to the Past and the original LoZ. On the other hand, there is no way of playing FFVII outside of emulation, yet Square keeps releasing these FFVII spinoffs that aren't going to gain any new fans. Outside of that, FFXII doesn't have much of a fanbase outside of hardcore FF fans, and the $40 handheld remakes of older games aren't as attractive as the $10 for OoT or $8 for LttP.
