"oops" Well, judging by the reaction to this bracket, I'd say you're in a minority, my dear! People reacted with outright hostility when Bacon unveiled this bracket, and that's despite a type of contest we've been clamoring for (and despite a very exciting finish to last year's contest). If there's no change to the format, then I think most of the board would really be in favor of a change to the players. Darth Vader and Batman might kill your interests, but another standard 4way will kill other peoples', including mine. OK, so I went back and found Ulti's RE4/MGS4/TP analysis. Going by
those GOTY polls, 3363 and 3364, Fallout wouldn't get blown out by
Brawl - if you think those are good contest proxies it'd be between
40%-45% against Brawl. That's not too far off. In the 2007-2009 divsion final, let's assume it'll be Brawl vs. Galaxy vs. MG4 vs. Fallout 3. I'd never even remotely considered this before, but wouldn't Fallout 3 actually have a shot at placing 2nd then? Brawl and Galaxy have to have some sort of split, and let's say Galaxy isn't too far off from Brawl. Fallout 3 doesn't have much ground to make up then. I find it really difficult to have Fallout 3 placing there - no chance I put it there really. But logically, it really seems possible - especially if you think Brawl is stronger than Galaxy. The only thing logic I can come up against Fallout 3 is that the Galaxy/Brawl split will be minor (a very dubious thing to believe), or that Fallout isn't as strong as the GOTY polls indicated (I guess I'll go with this). Ulti *If* MGS4 is equal to Brawl in strength like the recent GOTY poll indicates, then I'm positive it's stronger than pre-RE5 RE4. Why do you think this? Is it that you think Galaxy was hampered enough in that GOTC poll that it is a lot stronger than RE4? And if that's the case (you believe that Galaxy>Brawl>RE4) I don't see how you can just plug MGS4 into San Andreas' spot later in your analysis, because that would make Brawl a ton weaker than RE4. But I do have RE4>MGS4 in my bracket right now, albeit with great uncertainty. I'm not really considering putting TP there though - I think TP has some shot, but I wouldn't put it my bracket there. I find it really difficult to have Fallout 3 placing there - no
chance I put it there really. But logically, it really seems possible -
especially if you think Brawl is stronger than Galaxy. I think the counterargument would be that if you think Fallout 3 can take down one of them, then Call of Duty 4 might be able to take down one of them the round before. --- FastFalcon owned me in the Guru Contest! |

Not really, CoD4 was plenty far off from Galaxy in those two GOTY
polls. It only works out to about 34%-36% on Galaxy based on those
polls. That's a lot more than what Fallout 3 showed against Brawl. So Fallout 3 being capable of an upset doesn't really mean CoD4 is as well. The only way CoD4 is really capable of advancing is if Brawl is significantly weaker than Galaxy, because there's no way CoD4 is beating out Galaxy even with a big split. --- Save_Us.RAT BREAK THE BLOCK DOWN |

There's only so much overlap that's gong to be there. There's too much ground to make up for it to catch Galaxy. Before looking at the POTDs, I considered the CoD4 upset for a second, but the Fallout 3 upset never crossed my mind. But if these POTDs mean anything, Fallout 3 is a significantly better upset choice than CoD4. I'd love to know where all this confidence in Galaxy > Brawl comes
from. I took Brawl there without thinking twice and the Galaxy logic is
shaky at best. Seems like another one of those painfully obvious

insane amounts of strength over a 3-day period is because of natural
strength. That was Brawl anti-voting. Frankly I'm not dismissing either
game's chances, because it's about even. All I argue is the Nintendo

I wouldn't mind a character contest that potentially included all VG
characters, regardless of whether they began in a game or not. Lots of

come to think of it,this board would just collapse when goku meets
batman,with those hailing batman as the epitome of cool and best
character ever and the opposition hailing the massive influence goku
