Snake was one of the stronger characters in the contest and still
regularly lost the day vote to fodder. It's not where you begin, it's
where you end up that determines your strength. Which is still pretty bad for Kefka, but he's not as bad as people are making him out to be. You can't impugn him without doing the same to Pac-Man/Marcus Fenix/Revolver Ocelot/Marth/Duke Nukem/Niko/etc. Those would all do a number on the Ratchets and Nanas of the world, as would Kefka. --- turnturnturn your brain in turnturnturn your brain in |

Mortal Kombat II Secret of Mana Shining Force II Sonic the Hedgehog 2 I'm glad Mortal Kombat II got in, we really didn't need two versions of Street Fighter II. Yeah, I did just suggest that. *duel slap*. MKII had a better chance of advancing in its own spot. I love how people want to remove Streets of Rage 2, but the same people are fine and dandy with over 20 games with the FF, Zelda and Mario brand names. lol wut. Mortal Kombat is a pretty safe pick. Shining Force
aint doing nothing with Sonic there, and I doubt Secret of Mana is
anything but turbofodder. --- Like Darth Maul, the bastard child of Michael Flatley and Hellboy. -trancer1 |

Uhhh...Why is Secret of Mana even in consideration? The original Mortal
Kombat had decent strength. Secret of Mana did not. Shining Force was
turbo fodder, and definitely will be against a Sonic game. --- http://www.court-records.net/animation/phoenix-superobjection.gif |

Secret of Mana was up against a game that could have easily SFF'd it,
while Mortal Kombat was up against a polar opposite. Remember that
before Trigger mustered impressive performances against Mario RPG and
Mario World, its performance was considered one of the more
disappointing ones of Round 1. Basically, I can see why Mana would be
treated as a tantalizing upset pick, and I'm very tempted to take it
myself. --- Yoblazer: http://i43.tinypic.com/8zkzm1.gif Watch and you'll see... someday I'll be... part of your world! |

Old school Square especially has suffered in recent years. What's old school Square? Secret of Mana. Seriously, the older these cult classics get, the weaker they get. Games like Secret of Mana are forgotten by a lot of newer gamers. Everyone still knows Mortal Kombat. Heck, with the way Sonic has sucked up recently, just say I won't be surprised if MKII gets first! --- http://www.court-records.net/animation/phoenix-superobjection.gif |
YoAriel33 | Posted 3/9/2009 11:00:26 PM | message detail |
Hmm... looking at some polls, I have to side with MK. It had a solid
showing in that favorite 2D fighting game poll. I might be more apt to
risk it with Mana if Sonic 2 was a much stronger game that could wreck
the poll, but it isn't. Still, I feel Mana has a shot. --- Yoblazer: http://i43.tinypic.com/8zkzm1.gif Watch and you'll see... someday I'll be... part of your world! |
LeonhartFour | Posted 3/9/2009 11:02:38 PM | message detail |
I just can't see any reasoning for Secret of Mana winning. You never
bet on a cult game against a well-known name. And Mortal Kombat isn't
as hated as this board makes it out to be. Heck, I love MKII and I'll be voting for it! --- http://www.court-records.net/animation/phoenix-superobjection.gif |
ZFS | Posted 3/9/2009 11:03:35 PM | message detail |
Secret of Mana is a fun upset pick, but Mortal Kombat II will probably
win that one, just on its name alone. Mana should make it competitive,
though. --- http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/3006/wtfcrono.jpg |
