I'll give him credit for getting the points to whatever
matches...but I'm not going to give him credit for being smart,
logical, reasonable, or worthwhile to listen to while he talked about
them. Besides, again, I don't think he entirely predicted Pikachu's run. The only thing I had wrong was him beating Tidus in the first round. I figured it would be a close second place because of Isaac And all contest I was talking about how the "pokemon is t3h suck" 9 year olds from 2002 were now "omg pokemon is so niche and kawaii!!!!!!!!!111111111" 14 year olds --- Like Darth Maul, the bastard child of Michael Flatley and Hellboy. -trancer1 |

Good changes for the most part. SSB being ditched for Soul Calibur is
pretty bad, just for killing one of the harder matches in the first

I just now realized that DKC2 replacing Fallout means probably neither
DKC2 or Mario RPG advance past round 1. Whoops, two of my favorite SNES

Though I was adamantly against replacing GS with FE, stating that
there's no way in hell that FE would hold up against the very game that
made it popular, that it was a waste, and it may even lose to Disgaea.

SoulCalibur did VERY well in the first Games Contest (though it bombed
in the Series Contest, for whatever the reason), so I ain't givin'

Yeah, I don't think it'll do nearly that well today, not that going
even with KH1 in 2004 is as impressive as it sounds. Then again,
FFVIII's probably not going to be a top tier kinda game to begin with.

I still say DKC2 replacing Lufia 2 would have been a much better
choice, creating an interesting match instead of ruining one. Now GE

DKC2 and SMRPG were released about the same time on a somewhat dying
console. It makes a ton of sense for them to share a fanbase. Combine
that with the Goldeneye overlap, and Resident Evil 2 should be able to

I'm surprised that no one requested removing Gunstar Heroes. Seriously,
why? Why bring back a game that couldn't even break 10% in its match?

Besides, I really don't trust certain games in four ways where there
are two extra voting options. Super Mario RPG strikes me as a game that
gets votes for having Mario in the title, as the game was a cult
classic at the end of the SNES lifespan. It would do well against the
likes of Street Fighter II, where overlap is fairly limited for two
games in the same generation, but I don't trust it in a 4 way,
especially with two other Nintendo/Rare options in the poll. There's also the fact that Geno would likely get killed by every Street Fighter representative we've seen in the character battles, which seems to tell me that Super Mario RPG is not quite as popular as you would think. --- Donkey Kong Country 2's path to Best Game Ever '09. vs. Super Mario RPG, Goldeneye, Resident Evil 2. That's the reason the generational gaps are so stupid. We're stuck with
fodder like River City Ransom when we're missing games that would
actually do good like Devil May Cry and Rock Band/Guitar Hero. Reminds

I would be taking GTA4 - partly because of that, partly because I've yet to see SF4 show it's worth a damn. not that GTA4 is worth a damn either, but at least people played it.
