| I doubt that Soul Calibur would've beat Halo,
especially in retrospect. Ivy doing badly in 2006, Soul Calibur doing
badly in the Series Contest that year, and Nightmare not even making
the contest field then despite being one of the Rally Tournament
winners all suggest that Soul Calibur fluked that match with Kingdom

I knew someone would bring this up. We all know that Starcraft cheated, it would be shown about a 1,000 times that tournament. That is not a normal circumstance and you know it. Rallying does not mean cheating and who's to say that Starcraft was the only one cheating in that match. The only match I'll give credit for cheating is SSBM/Starcraft. We've also seen Vincent, a five seed easily win against Dante, a one seed in an 8 seeded bracket. Dante showed no strength jumps between years. Seeds mean nothing other than bracket placement which could create a bandwagon, which is hard to start in a one vs one situation. A game like RE4 will not start a bandwagon type rally unless it beats a big name in a close match. As for X Stats saying Halo would have beat WW. BS, Halo would have lost to Kingdom Hearts in round 2 by a healthy margin, let alone touched FF X, WW, and SSBM. X Stats didn't take account for the bandwagon explosion so while those three games would beat Halo, I'm pretty sure Halo would have easily won against KH after it's embarrassing performance against Soul Calibur. --- Board 8 BOP: http://www.freewebs.com/charmander6000/CB7%20BOP.xls Congratulations to FastFalcon for winning the guru contest, you are the best among the best. |

Or that Kingdom Hearts just wasn't that strong back then. A game does
not need to be terribly strong on its own right to provide massive
boosts as KH did. Or to put it another way, yes Cloud and Sephiroth's
KH boost was big, but it was small compared to the strength they

It's probably both. The good news is that the bracket will probably be put up soon. The bad news is that the bracket will probably be up soon, leading to people whining because *insert game here* didn't make it. Hmm, I'm changing my original predictions after looking at how badly
RE4 blew out the other 2 games in the Final GotY poll from 2005. Brawl

Actually, scratch that. RE4 ought to be able to do much better than 52%
against MGS4, and there's no need to be afraid of Brawl. Team

Twilight Princess (Again, I'm one of those who think this newest generation of games are all higher than everyone expects) Super Mario 64 (It's ****ing Mario. I think even in this anti-Nintendo climate nostalgia will win out over MGS) Metal Gear Solid 4 (Galaxy, while critically acclaimed, doesn't really pull at the heartstrings like 64. I think Galaxy will be strong, but I don't think it'd hang as closely to Brawl, SFF aside) Chrono Trigger (It'd beat Melee in 2004, it could do it again with a DS port vs Nintendo backlash) Super Smash Bros. Uh.....why is that? We didn't get a good read on either game in 2004
and we haven't since....MGS did beat SM64 on the list. Why is it

SM 64 56% MGS 44% And I am probably really lowballing SM 64. People do remember Final Fantasy Tactics right? Are you really saying you think that MGS would have a prayer at SM 64?
