Oh, WoW can definitely win a match. It did barely beat GoW2 last year,
for example, not to mention that it handed Spore its ass recently and
will likely end up beating CT and CC:FF7 with room to spare. That said,
it's going to have a hard time beating Gears 2 and will still be easily
blown out by SSBB, MGS4, and GTA4 in probably a nine-way poll (I'm
predicting a downloadable-GotY this year...if not, it's still an
eight-way). If WoW doesn't stand out against Gears 2 in the kind of
format that benefits it the most, then don't expect it to particularly
hold up so well in a four-way or especially one-on-one. I know rallying needs to be considered for a BGE-match, but this year's GotY-poll better prove to me it's got as solid of a base as ever because I'm not sold on it getting some guaranteed percentage every match. --- FastFalcon05 absolutely decimated me in the Guru challenge. How bad was it? ...I don't want to talk about it. |

With GTA4 and GoW2 both in the match should LFF eachother and have WoW

...not buying that. Otherwise, WoW would have beat CoD4 and/or Halo 3
last year. Instead, it was doubled by an LFF'd Halo 3 in a nine-way
poll. Besides, I doubt GTA4 and Gears 2 LFF all that much. --- FastFalcon05 absolutely decimated me in the Guru challenge. How bad was it? ...I don't want to talk about it. |

Not much worse than any other games that share a system though. GTA4
will already be hurt by MGS4's killer favoritism and not get to see its
PS3-fans in full effect, but its 360-fans still let GTA4 be close to
MGS4 and Gears 2 isn't approaching MGS4 in strength. GTA4 should be
able to fend it off well enough with just 360-fans -- no need to act
like GTA4 is on the level of Oblivion when it trailed close behind
Gears 1 in 2006. All GTA4 has to do is get to the overall-GotY poll and it's going to do fine...but apparently there's a Fallout 3 in the way. I'll have to see it here to believe it here, but it's possible. --- FastFalcon05 absolutely decimated me in the Guru challenge. How bad was it? ...I don't want to talk about it. |

Kingdom Hearts is like Smash - it's only gotten stronger and stronger
over the years. Even if WoW was at the top end of my spectrum (and

I think KH helps me decide where I would put WoW at now: I imagine KH has picked up and Starcraft has dropped since 2004...and I would take Starcraft in a very close match assuming there was no rallying (since there wasn't in 2004). I would take WoW to barely beat KH with a "standard" rally -- nothing exceptional by its fans, but they had to obviously put in the word to spread the word and encourage people. I don't really know numerically speaking how many votes I think WoW would rally in such a match, but I think that's the difference between WoW and Starcraft. I think WoW can rally more than the "standard," but it's going to take a lot of luck and reason outside of "WoW is losing right now." Starcraft had everything when it was rallied, and WoW will need the same to get that kind of success. --- FastFalcon05 absolutely decimated me in the Guru challenge. And based on the Series Contest, KH is projected to nearly double SC.
Talking up KH/SC is like talking up Pokemon GSC/Xenogears. SC and XG

Am I the only who still finds something suspicious about that
Starcraft/Kingdom Hearts match? KH gets NO afterschool vote at all. And
it actually did something with the morning vote, but then nothing else
for the rest of the match. I find that very very suspicious. --- FastFalcon owned me in the Guru Contest! |

It's possible KH wasn't a day vote monster in 2004- it won the ASV to
beat Soul Calibur, but didn't demolish it like KH would now. Sora went

Hm, with FFVII's and GoW's day votes, I wonder if Yggdra Union can drop

Update! * Chrono Trigger - 27.70% on DS poll, 20127 votes (of 72651 total) * WoW: WotLK - 36.83% on PC poll, 22383 votes (of 60780 total) * Persona 4 - 44.53% on PS2 poll, 21612 votes (of 48534 total) * MGS4 - 53.56% on PS3 poll, 39796 votes (of 74297 total) * Crisis Core - 50.48% on PSP poll (currently), ? votes (of ? total) Impressive result for MGS4 in pretty much every aspect. Blows away the old mark for largest percentage, nearly doubles the next closest vote total, and (pretty much) singlehandedly carries that poll to better popularity than one that featured CT, Kirby, an FF title, and TWEWY.
