More like both make it, creating a Tales of Symphonia/Persona 4 and
Persona 3/Tales of the Abyss fourpack, allowing ToS to make the Sweet
Sixteen and cause Lloyd, Kratos, AND Sheena to be rallied for into the

Vesperia could do quite well. But let's wait for the 360 poll first! Thinking about it, I'd say it has a good chance at winning that poll. It's a three way race between ToV, Fable II and GoW 2. Yeah, GoW2 should win. GoW was able to cleanly beat Oblivion when ES4
was big on both the PC and 360, then went on to be in competitive range
of FF12 in 2006. I also heard it is better than the original, for
anecdotal evidence. Compare that to Fable being beaten cleanly by
SW:KotOR and Ninja Gaiden...and getting 10.97% to Halo 2's 50.03% in
2004. I hear Fable 2 is much better than the first one, but man, that
would have to be a hell of an improvement --- FastFalcon05 absolutely decimated me in the Guru challenge. How bad was it? ...I don't want to talk about it. |

I expect Fable 2 to do alot better. Fable 1 had Spores type of
problem... totally overhyped and anti votes cuz of people expecting
more. But Fable 2 didn't come with as much hype so it won't have that

Also I expect when this is over, Disgaea 3 and VC will both lose to
Resistance. This is the board vote where Laharl always did better then

Alright, well so far our contenders for GotY are * Chrono Trigger - 27.70% on DS poll, 20127 votes (of 72651 total) * WoW: WotLK - 36.83% on PC poll, 22383 votes (of 60780 total) * Persona 4 - 44.53% on PS2 poll, 21612 votes (of 48534 total) * MGS4 - 54.07% on PS3 poll (currently), ? votes (of ? total) Funny that all of the first three winners collected an almost identical number of votes despite interest in the polls plummeting for two days. Should be interesting to see if MGS4 all by itself (practically) will create enough interest to put this PS3 poll back to total vote numbers like the DS showed. --- thengamer.com/guru/ says we just got owned hard by FastFalcon! If Animal Crossing can beat a port of LoZ:LttP and WoW:tBC can beat
GoW2, then yeah, WoW:WotLK should beat CT. Still, with CT doing well
enough in the DS poll considering how much Square was in it and it's
still a recreation of the #3 game here, I dunno...could be fun to
watch, but I'll take WoW considering it's a port. --- FastFalcon05 absolutely decimated me in the Guru challenge. How bad was it? ...I don't want to talk about it. |

Nah, them SFF'ing is unlikely. CT didn't look SFF'd against FF7, there
aren't many good examples of old-school Square SFF'ing new-school
Square, they're on different systems, and CT's a port while CC:FF7 is
new material. Throw in that they'll each have low percentages, and
we're going to have a hard time particularly proving any if there
happens to be some SFF. --- FastFalcon05 absolutely decimated me in the Guru challenge. How bad was it? ...I don't want to talk about it. |

Ugh. MGS4 is winning. I would imagine a good 30% was from people who have never played it. In fact I hope so, otherwise it means people seriously think it was good, let alone the best game here(not that there's much competition). Aside from Sony messing around with copyrights(fair use, people, not to
mention hypocrisy) LBP is actually pretty flawless. Not PERFECT, but it
has no glaring flaws. It's a great platformer with probably the best
level editor out there, and some great online features. Not the best game ever, but more deserving than everything else up there. Also, it's narrated by Stephen Fry. Doesn't get much better than that. --- Under guru champ, FastFalcon related tyranny since 20/11/08. Mother 3. That is all. |

With the exception of Resistance 2 losing to VC and Disgaea the order
is what I expected, but I really though LBP would give MGS4 some kind
of a fight. I guess we shouldn't expect much from it when it make the

I didn't think LBP would give MGS4 a fight, but I thought it'd be a bit closer. I thought R2 could do at least something here, but all its percentage went to MGS4. really nice performance. PS3 has some decent exclusives. 360 is actually weaker on the exclusive side this year, with only Gears 2 and Fable 2 being noteworthy game contest-worthy entrants. Wii actually has the strongest exclusives because it's completely lacking in the multiplatform games: Brawl, Kart, NMH, Animal Crossing. kinda weird, really. --- xyzzy "I hope you are this idiot only in the internet ^__^" -linkhatesganon |

I read your writeup Tranny. None of the flaws you listed seemed that flawish, more "This game does not appeal to me" MGS4 on the other hand... Ngamer posted that CT, WoW and Persona 4 all had similar votes yet MGS4 has already outnumbered them with still 10 hours left to go. After seeing some of the old GOTY polls, I'll say I'm not scared of WoW
winning a 4-way contest anymore. If the final is

So if we've never had any sort of player ship polls on Starcraft... and
it was previously thought that Starcraft had no chance back in 2004,
and only after the fact people are willing to give it respect, while
still saying WoW has absolutely no chance. Seems pretty revisionist to
