World at War isn't exactly well liked and a fair number of people have
gone back to Call of Duty 4 which is a much better game. It'll still
sell a ton, maybe a little less than CoD4, but it won't have the legs

World at War isn't made by the normal Call of Duty maker (Infinity Ward
who made 1, 2, and 4), so thats part of the reason its not as well
liked. I mean its popular and sells well, but its no where near as
played on XBL as 4 (4 is still really close to XBL numbers even now,

WaW only sold as much as it did because everyone and their mother
****ing loved CoD4. Then once everyone played it they realized how
incredibly inferior it is to CoD4. Pretty much everyone I've talked to
on the matter feels that way, and have gone back to 4. The only people
I know who still play WaW are those who played 4 so damn much that they

see, I would think the same.. except it's been topping the XBL charts
for over a month now, despite COD4 still being played at a high rate.
the game you're describing is actually Gears 2, which has been accused

tranny beat me to it. Yeah, this multi poll really smacks of last year
to me, as in, "it doesn't matter that CoD4 is the huge game right now-
Halo 3 just has too much name recognition. the strong Halo series votes
will stomp it down for an easy win." GTA always finds new ways to
disappoint post-2004, and I don't think tonight will be an exception...

5v5 and apparently they couldn't handle it. It'll probably get fixed
eventually so that it's unquestionably better than it's predecessor in
all aspects. As far as the campaign goes, I don't think there's a

everyone should go predict the top 3 or 4 in the prediction topic - we
can see how disasterrific our predix are. I've got F3 > GTA4 >
COD > L4D, for the record, but no confidence in any of these games.
they're all decent games, but nothing is top-tier. --- xyzzy |

GTA4-hype or not, we've seen a ratio of five-to-seven people show us
they think MGS4 is the GotY of 2008 over SSBB/GTA4/fodder...and GTA4
still kept relatively close to SSBB despite losing half of the
PS3-fanbase to MGS4. If anything, I think it's a sign of MGS4-fans
getting ready to embarrass everyone in third place and lower in the
overall-GotY before coming down to earth in the final-GotY. No other
game would take out as much support as MGS4 did, and we don't even know
if MGS4 was over-rated due to the hype and recent release of his
mega-game (remember MC and Halo 3 in 2007-polls?). GTA4's not out by a longshot. It may lose to FO3, but it won't be because of some new-found weakness from the past six months. --- FastFalcon05 absolutely decimated me in the Guru challenge. How bad was it? ...I don't want to talk about it. |

How many people actually play online though? I know there have been
polls run here about it, and from memory I'm recalling it as being
pretty low. I could be completely wrong with that though. Anyway, I
don't think that should have much of an affect on how it does anyway. I
think most Gears 2 players understand that it's just a technical issue
that will be fixed shortly. If you love Gears you'll be voting it over
the others in the poll regardless of how smoothly the online is running

I still don't think GTAIV will have any trouble beating Fallout 3, but

Haha, I already did bro. Yeah, I can see what you mean about the IP-thing. People said Aassassin's Creed was the same thing last year, and Altair actually beat Niko, but is anybody picking AC over GTA4? --- FastFalcon05 absolutely decimated me in the Guru challenge. Nah. Fallout 3 will take an easy third in the GotY poll, but it won't
be up there with MGS4. The thing about MGS4 is that adding a bunch of
stronger options isn't going to be that detrimental to it. I'd say
there's a good 27%+ or so that are going to be voting for it regardless

Yeah, after this and... http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=3164 ...you have to consider FO3 upsetting MGS4, especially once less options are available and the PS3 is all by itself against a Wii-beast and the multi-platform game that smoked MGS4's biggest threat at second place.
