Then he struggles with an Auron being SFFed by CLOUD, of all people. Yeah, but at least he still beat him! Kratos couldn't even do that! But it really didn't, in retrospect - Kirby was about as far off from Bowser as you'd expect him to be these days Yeah, these days, but Bowser was on a hot streak in 2005, as was Ganondorf, due to the Villains Contest highs they were on. Nobody'd be that surprised to see Kirby do that NOW, but in the context of the contest, it doesn't make a lot of sense. And Rikku's still a solid midcarder. I agree on Ryu being a fraud. I was just thinking the same thing the
other day. I think that 2004 of all years is actually his fluke year,
and that he was overrated in both 2002 (West Division Factor, which I

Gadds, it's tradition to do the Got Consoles shortly before and then
shortly after Christmas, in order to see what kind of holiday boost
everyone got. It works out pretty well- we'll be able to run right

I imagine the nominations will hit the front page almost immediately
after he comes back for a short amount of time (and it won't take long
for outside nominations to pass B8), then aim for a one-on-one bracket
and aim to start it at the beginning of February. --- FastFalcon05 absolutely decimated me in the Guru challenge. How bad was it? ...I don't want to talk about it. |

tranny made a topic to discuss what will be winning all the GotYs, and
here are the expected results that we seemed to more or less agree on. DS: Chrono Trigger, FFIV runner PC: Spore, World of Warcraft: WotLK runner PS2: Kingdom Hearts, Persona 4 runner PS3: Metal Gear Solid 4, LittleBigPlanet runner PSP: Crisis Core, God of War runner Wii: Brawl, Mario Kart runner Xbox 360: Gears of War 2, Fable II runner Multiplatform: Grand Theft Auto IV, Fallout 3 runner MMORPG: World of Warcraft: WotLK, Warhammer Online runner Downloadable: MM9, SFII runner System: Xbox 360, Wii runner GOTY: Brawl, MGS4 runner So, we'll see how accurate those end up being. GTA4 won't be beaten by anybody but MGS4 and SSBB, methinks, and should
be rather safe in the multi-GotY. None of the other multi-platform
games are nearly on the level of MGS4, which was severely hurting
GTA4's PS3-presence (when 5/7ths of the PS3 fanbase thinks MGS4 is
GotY, that'll happen). It doesn't hurt that the music games will hurt
each other like last year (which still couldn't beat CoD4 last year
combined -- CoD4 isn't too bad of a bad marker for GTA4, and I'd favor
GTA4 in such a match). We also give GTA4 trouble for not impressing in
the halfway-GotY polls earlier this year, but SSBB and MGS4 are likely
the two biggest games to hit this site since LoZ:TP and GTA4 didn't get
much help from the PS3-fanbase in them thanks to MGS4. If downloadable
games are in, MM9 should be the only threat...and it's not a threat;
GTA4 may catch hell, but it'll take a bigger name and/or higher
playership to beat it here. The amount of discussion for Fallout 3 upsetting it is surprising me, but I don't know much about it so I can't really argue for or against it other than saying Fallout 3 isn't going to be close to MGS4-tier. Meanwhile, I think GTA4 would beat MGS4 head-to-head and would give SSBB a decent run if MGS4 wasn't in the scene, so...until otherwise noted, I still like GTA4. Regardless, I'd love to hear the reasoning behind Fallout 3. --- FastFalcon05 absolutely decimated me in the Guru challenge. How bad was it? ...I don't want to talk about it. |

Fallout 3 is absolutely huge for whatever reason. It sold very well, it
reviewed extremely well, it's been number 1 on the top 10 FAQs list for
nearly two months now, and all three versions of the game have been in
the top 10 for just as long. And GTA has a habit of...well...flopping.
That multi-option poll just screams upset, especially seeing as there's

The amount of discussion for Fallout 3 upsetting it is surprising me Well on Gamespots goty polls (Which is essentialy same fanbase as here), the Xbox 360 game of the year polls were NHL 2009, Burnout paradise, Braid, Fallout 3, and GTA4. So it was essentially Fallout 3 vs. GTA 4 since they had about 85% of the percentage, and GTA4 just BARELY beat it by like 2%. Look at it this way - he got all of 55% on Rikku, who looked pretty
crummy the next year. he let Kratos get nearly as much on him as he did
on ALUCARD pre-GoW2, and only looked so good against Mega Man because
MM was in a downward spiral and he <was given about the biggest
picture advantage you could concoct for him. Rikku didn't look too bad, and Ryu looked great last year and this year. It's pretty clear that his match with Bowser is the real outlier for some reason. I mean, his worst loss is to Bowser, and that's the only non-NNer he's lost to, something happened there. Bowser is the anomaly in the 2005 bracket. He went from crushing Ryu to almost losing to Kirby back to almost beating Snake (granted Solid ****, but the point stands). All of this after he broke 40% on Sephiroth in the villains contests. Then the next year he manages to get destroyed by the weakest Crono we've ever seen and gets anihilated by Ryu twice in 2007. And to top it off he got smoked by Luigi, completely reversing the old Nintendo green trio standings. Bowser is a really odd character looking back. --- Like Darth Maul, the bastard child of Michael Flatley and Hellboy. -trancer1 FastFalcon is apparantly better at contesty stuff than me. |

I'm bored so let's come up with some numbers using lol vgchartz. While the 360 poll is not finish I don't see ownership rising or dropping by too much. Most people think of GameFAQs being a hardcore gaming site compare to the rest of the gaming market well let's take a look at the console share world wide. World Wide PS3 - 21.1% Wii - 49.2% X360 - 29.7% Surprisingly or maybe not the Wii almost has a 50% market share, though since GameFAQs is 80% North American it would make sense to take a look at the North American sales instead. North America PS3 - 17.0% Wii - 47.0% X360 - 36.0% Dropping Japan and to a certain extent Europe sees the rise of the 360 though with 20% being outside of North America the expected GameFAQs value would have the 360 as a bit lower and the PS3 being a bit higher. GameFAQs PS3 - 23.7% Wii - 40.5% X360 - 35.8% The GameFAQs market share shows the Wii taking a huge hit with the PS3 taking its entire loss as their gain. So what does this all mean? Like we saw in the last character contest don't expect Nintendo to dominate for the upcoming years. Also looking into the future expect the PS3 and to a certain extent X360 to close in the gap between the Wii and more non-Nintendo entries stepping up to the plate. One more set of data for you. "Future" GameFAQs PS3 - 30.0% Wii - 35.8% X360 - 34.2% This is assuming if "No, I just don't want one" voters stick to their word. No, however there's a greater chance that he will be seeing a boost in the future than a Nintendo character and they will not be as dominant as before. Also expect a PS3 only character to have half decent strength in a few years. I'd say a 5% boost at the minimum, and 10%+ boost at the maximum. I
would think CTDS is bigger for Crono than Kingdom Hearts was for
Cloud/Sephiroth, especially once it comes out in Europe. I'll take
Crono over Mario and feel very good about it, take Crono over Samus and

WoW:tBC owned the MMORPG-GotY but barely beat the disappointing performance of GoW2. Granted, it also had to compete a little with Crysis, but WoW:WotLK will be dealing with Spore too (which may do a little better than Crysis) and will have much steeper big-name competition (SSBB > SMG, MGS4 > CoD4, and [FO3?] > GTA4 > Halo 3). I don't know how BC and WotLK compare exactly, but I doubt there's a big difference considering they are both WoW-expansions. Ownership hasn't risen too much, its name is still generally slandered by those who don't play it, and the expansions have had about a year inbetween them. WoW's performance in the upcoming GotY-polls isn't exactly on my to-worry-about list. --- FastFalcon05 absolutely decimated me in the Guru challenge. How bad was it? ...I don't want to talk about it. |

I'd say a 5% boost at the minimum Minimum? I was thinking that'd be the maximum. It's HARD to boost when you're already that strong. CTDS has to introduce the game to a wide audience who've never played it before. Looking at vgchartz CTDS has broken a million total, and has around
700k in NA. Let's see how the European release does before coming to
