There shouldn't be a cap on a series. If the game is good, it should be in the contest. --- GameFAQs isn't going to be merged in with GameSpot or any other site. We're not going to strip out the soul of the site. -CJayC |

I don't think any caps will be made and really if it did it would only
slightly affect FF and LoZ series (maybe one or two games would miss it
because of caps) though the Mario series could suffer majorly if it is

For what it's worth, SMRPG was in the BGE-2004 and Mario Kart was in
the Series Contest. If there even is a cap, I doubt they get cut
because of it. --- FastFalcon05 absolutely decimated me in the Guru challenge. How bad was it? ...I don't want to talk about it. |

There didn't seem to be any cap in the character contest so I doubt there's one for the series contest. --- Demyx is better than Axel. |

Somehow I doubt Aerith in 2007 and Tifa in 2008 got less noms than Jade Curtiss. --- Zack was clearly counted as being from Crisis Core RPGuy on Windows (augh) |

A cap doesn't really matter, especially because it'll like be something
like 4 or 5 and the only series it would affect would be
Zelda/Mario/Final Fantasy. And 4th and 5th tier games from those series

Currently: 3 or less - I started with this generation 0.36% 26 4-9 - I started with the DC/PS2/GameCube/Xbox 6.01% 431 10-14 - I started with the PS/Saturn/N64 25.32% 1815 15-19 - I started with the SNES/Genesis 34.74% 2490 20-24 - I started with the 8-bit Nintendo 26.73% 1916 25 or more - I've been playing since the days of Atari 6.84% 490 TOTAL VOTES 7168 The vast majority of the site is still composed of people who started with the older consoles. Yeah, there was pretty clearly a cap the last two years. Final Fantasy 2008 Tifa Cecil Kefka Vivi Rydia Squall Zack Kain Vincent Aeris Tidus Auron Cloud Sephiroth Zidane Balthier Exactly 16. I was more referring to if you looked at peoples' top 5 games or something like that. well yeah, 'cause it's better and portable! but it's not like I don't
prefer Zelda 1 to all Zeldas, Mega Man 2/3 to all Mega Mans, FF1NES to

But that doesn't help, unless you think the extra 10% that owned those
consoles didn't play them. I'm thinking it has to be the wording of the
question....I mean we didn't see older characters totally collapse in

My main problem with not having a cap is that these games might be
stronger then games from other series, but it gets boring if its a game

| It's fine to have the strongest 64, although
perhaps we can fudge that a bit more the sake of more variety, but the

No Super mario bros 3? I went with ones that might actually be in my own top 64, so no. I don't care about strength in the contest, I care about pure noms, and with the exception of MAYBE Super Mario Land, New Super Mario Bros, Super Mario 2, and Minnish Cap, I would take every single one of those games to get many more noms than many other games who would make it if we have a cap. I definitely don't see NSMB, SMB2, SML, or MC as real nomination getters. NSMB/SMB2/SML have much stronger 2D Mario competition... I mean, does anyone really think NSMB is the best Mario game? Noms you say? Well, looking at the Top 100 list, I count 17 games from
the Big 3 in the top 64 (that includes Super Mario Kart). That's

Weren't the noms for the 2005 contest only up on the main page for a
very brief period? It would certainly explain the fact that all the
rally tournament winners got ridiculously high seeds and guys like the
King of All Cosmos getting in with no trouble. --- Donkey Kong Country 2 for next Games contest. I hereby bow to FastFalcon who FastFalcon Punched my bracket. |

Yeah, let's have as many Zelda/FF/Mario games in the contest as
possible, because tons of unavoidable and boring SFF matchups are what
we REALLY need out of a new Games Contest! Seriously, people who think this way sicken me. When it comes to the endgame of finding out GameFAQs' true "Best Game Ever", it's going to be 1.) Final Fantasy VII or 2.) Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Full Stop - Do Not Pass Go, Do Not Collect $200. The rest of the contest should focus on getting as good matchups as possible. If that means that FFIX has to lose out a spot to something like Symphony of the Night, that's unfortunate - but if it's going to be placed opposite something like FFVIII, necessary. --- turnturnturn your brain in turnturnturn your brain in |

yup. I don't mind it being limited to three per series, personally - so
long as we get the best three. it'd suck to miss out on Mario World or
64, but a FF6/7/10, OOT/TP/LTTP, 3/64/Galaxy contest is a good one by

You see, this is why it needs to be 128. To stop Mario/Zelda/Final Fantasy from taking up an enormous part of the bracket. Not only that, but think about what will happen in round two-most will get through, and even if only, say, 20 of 64 are from those three series, that means that some 18-20 will be in the final 32, resulting in a horrible SFF-fest. However, if it were 128, that would allow for more spacing, so by the time those games met, most would have already been eliminated. --- Under guru champ, FastFalcon related tyranny since 20/11/08. Mother 3. That is all. |
