OOT and CT are probably locks for 1-seeds, with OOT taking overall #1.
They'll get lots of nominations, and both have very high review scores
and ratings. --- Congratulations to Crono for making his first true finals match, your 5 time contest champion, Link, and the Guru Champion FastFalcon |
MyWorldIsCrono | Posted 12/4/2008 8:16:02 PM | message detail |
Chrono trigger actually is higher then OoT if you look at all 3 gamefaqs review scores --- http://card.mygamercard.net/nxe/Albion+Hero.png FastFalcon05 sure knows how to fill out a Guru Contest bracket better than I! |

Which game has the highest chance of being the overall 1 seed? Ocarina of Time - I'd be surprised if it was anything else. It has a good chance at getting the most overall nominations, then it's got the best professional ratings, and its My Games rating is probably one of the highest on the site. --- http://i36.tinypic.com/2hehbis.gif |

Series caps would be ok if we were talking about keeping something like
Madden '08 and Madden '09 out of the contest (just an example, I know
gamefaqs hates sports games). It just doesn't work with a series like
Final Fantasy though, where each game is completely different. You
might as well just have a RPG cap, which would make as much sense. And I'm still annoyed with FFVIII not making the last contest. I think it would really surprise some people, considering how it's always hindered by FFVII in the polls we've seen. I'd take it over both FFX and VI. --- FastFalcon and Solid Snake snapped my neck in the guru contest. |

Am I the only one who would actually love to see FFXII in this contest? I hate the game but it could do well. Sure, Balthier has been a huge flop, but it's still very high in the PS2 Top10. I don't think it stands a chance against X, but there are quite a number of vocal fans. In a FFVIII vs FFXII matchup, I think I'd side with XII in a close match, and I'd take XII over IX in heartbeat. --- FastFalcon is a better guru than I. |
hailEC | Posted 12/5/2008 12:57:49 PM | message detail |
12 > 8? lol no --- all hail ec your lord and savior except FastFalcon, he's so legit you must bow down to his ass too. |
LeonhartFour | Posted 12/5/2008 1:23:29 PM | message detail |
No guarantee FF8 makes it in before 9! The only way FFIX makes it in before FFVIII is if the nominations are limited to this board. FFVIII had enough nominations to be a 3 seed in Division 32/64. It's getting in as long as there's no cap. How it does in the contest is a different story altogether, but it's got more than enough fans to get it in at the very least. Remember it smoked FFIX on The List. --- FastFalcon is without a doubt the best Guru I've ever heard of, savvy? http://www.court-records.net/animation/phoenix-withtoupee.gif |

FFXII has a decent shot at beating FFIX, but other than that, no. --- FastFalcon is without a doubt the best Guru I've ever heard of, savvy? http://www.court-records.net/animation/phoenix-withtoupee.gif |

IX and XII both getting into the contest would do much, much more than
simply surprise me, let alone both facing weak enough competition for
them to meet in a match. --- ~War~ The Cream of Transexual FastFalcon Fanboyism ~War~ |
LeonhartFour | Posted 12/5/2008 1:36:31 PM | message detail |
Yeah, I highly doubt both of them make it in (and I'd expect FFIX way
before FFXII. The latter fell off the map way too fast). I'm just
saying in a hypothetical match, FFIX is the only "modern" FF I'd give
it a shot against. And I'd still take FFIX and feel pretty comfortable
about it. --- FastFalcon is without a doubt the best Guru I've ever heard of, savvy? http://www.court-records.net/animation/phoenix-withtoupee.gif |
ZFS | Posted 12/5/2008 1:38:05 PM | message detail |
FFXII would do well in a contest if only because of its namesake, but
it wouldn't be stronger than FFVIII or FFIX, I don't think. No need to
see it in a contest. --- http://i36.tinypic.com/2hehbis.gif |
MarioSuperstar | Posted 12/5/2008 2:03:56 PM | message detail |
where do people consider FFIX (or 9) to be in strength? --- *is Dranze* Through fire, justice is served because FastFalcon05 owned my bracket. |
LeonhartFour | Posted 12/5/2008 2:24:36 PM | message detail |
Asking where games are in strength is a really difficult question.
Looking at the 2004 stats, the strongest game I'd take it over
is...Maybe MGS2? It'd probably be in the same range as the original
Final Fantasy, though a noticeable bit higher. Of course, the Games Contest stats are next to worthless. This is what's going to make this contest so great. Nobody can really agree on what games are stronger than what. I just hope the bracket delivers. --- FastFalcon is without a doubt the best Guru I've ever heard of, savvy? http://www.court-records.net/animation/phoenix-withtoupee.gif |

Considering no one here wants OoT or FF7 to win again (I think anyway,
Link had way too many supporters for my liking) I would enjoy anything
that makes the possibility of them losing more likely. --- FastFalcon believed in Snake. I didn't. |

After CT, I do want FFVII/OOT to win. Really though, the thing I want
most is a credible winner- something that doesn't have to rely on joke
votes or a massive bandwagon boosting its strength massively between
rounds. --- Congratulations to Crono for making his first true finals match, your 5 time contest champion, Link, and the Guru Champion FastFalcon |

HaRRicH | Posted 12/6/2008 3:45:21 PM | message detail |
I would put RE4 in the classic GE/MGS/SM64/FF8 range, give or take a little. I think it could contend well with them, at least. --- FastFalcon05 absolutely decimated me in the Guru challenge. How bad was it? ...I don't want to talk about it. |
GameZACKS | Posted 12/6/2008 3:47:52 PM | message detail |

And SM64 would obliterate Goldeneye. I know they did essentially equal against OoT... but it's freakin' OoT. *pulls out binder* Super Mario 64 - 23.74% GoldenEye 007 - 26.95% Not equal though 64 should win against 007 without much trouble. --- Board 8 BOP: http://www.freewebs.com/charmander6000/CB7%20BOP.xls Congratulations to FastFalcon for winning the guru contest, you are the best among the best. |

You gotta believe Goldeneye would suffer a little
bit less SFF too, seeing as though it's a little bit less of a Nintendo
option than Super Mario 64. --- Donkey Kong Country 2 for next Games contest. I hereby bow to FastFalcon who FastFalcon Punched my bracket. |
TestIcicles | Posted 12/6/2008 4:01:27 PM | message detail |

ZFS | Posted 12/6/2008 4:33:32 PM | message detail |
I'd have a hard time seeing RE4 as a top 10 game, but it'd be an easy
top 20 - I'd put it right around MGS1 and Goldeneye in strength, who I
put below the TP/FFX/SM64/FFVI/SMG group. --- http://i36.tinypic.com/2hehbis.gif |
red sox 777 | Posted 12/6/2008 4:38:51 PM | message detail |
Those numbers against OOT project Goldeneye to beat SM64 with 55.96%.

MyWorldIsCrono | Posted 12/6/2008 4:52:10 PM | message detail |
From: red sox 777 | #335 Link typically SFF's Mario to hell, and I'd expect Goldeneye to not be SFF'd as much in a match against Zelda (even though its on n64). From: TestIcicles | #338 The GC version was actually the worst selling of the RE4s iirc... ps2 sold best then Wii. It still sold a little over a million though --- http://card.mygamercard.net/nxe/Albion+Hero.png FastFalcon05 sure knows how to fill out a Guru Contest bracket better than I! |
HaRRicH | Posted 12/6/2008 5:28:23 PM | message detail |
For what it's worth, when RE4 got #14 on the Top 100 List, that was
probably entirely off of Gamecube-support since the PS2-version was
only out for one day before the list closed. If the GC was the
worst-selling version...oh hell. --- FastFalcon05 absolutely decimated me in the Guru challenge. How bad was it? ...I don't want to talk about it. |

http://www.vgchartz.com/games/index.php?name=resident+evil+4 Actually I'm wrong, the GC version outsold Wii version by 70k... Wii version will likely be better selling when its all said and done though. Nah. The Wii is the 'worst' selling of the three - 1.3 million on the

woo vgchartz I was talking about U.S. sales, which are from NPD. VGChartz's worldwide sales are still off base, though. #14 with 1/3rd of it's sales? I don't like to put a lot into the list,
