I agree with you on most of those, except for Pokemon being a low seed.
being combined + never having Red in 2004 means it'll get a lot of
nominations, I think. my original bracket had OOT/Galaxy/RE4/MGS4 as the 1 seeds, so you and I think alike here. --- xyzzy |

Oh and Wow might get a mid seed, but Starcraft is getting a high seed.
Combined with its amazing review scores and people mass nominating it

So...while tranny's bracket is great, I think we're forgetting that we
don't really know what's making it in. We can guess 80% of the field or
so with a good degree of accuracy, but I wouldn't be surprised if a lot
of WTF entrants made it in, whether they be strong or weak. --- FastFalcon believed in Snake. I didn't. |

we're going to get a pretty disappointing field when it's all said and
done. expect stuff like Vesperia, World at War and other newer games to
not only get in, but get high seeds. expect some very high profile
snubs, too - I'm not sure if anybody realized that my bracket omitted

It was always the matches we didn't expect to be close that produced
the most memorable matches. Remember the Gauntlet in 2005? 5
consecutive let-downs, followed by a match that was closer than any of

2005 didn't have any close matches period. the closest we got was that
Kefka nonsense and the Squall match which wasn't close by noon. Sonic/Mega Man is highly underrated though. --- xyzzy |

I have faith the front page will nominate SMW in droves, but if there's
a series/company cap of any kind, I can see it missing out because of
SMW2, which is bad news. I switched SMB1 for SMW after seeing how it

Way back when IGN did a Top 100 Games list based on user reviews, and some random Splinter Cell game that had just come out ranked 3rd. The next year it didn't even make the list. Well, DK did have a lead of 2000 votes on MC at noon, enough to qualify
that as an exciting match I think, even if MC ended up winning by over

Well it's not a matter of doubting its nom power- I'm counting on R/B/Y
to do great in that stage of the game, especially now that we're
assured of all three being combined. The problem is that the earliest
generation only pulls an 8.4 in GameFAQs reviews and 8.8 from Pro
reviewers- not horrible
numbers, but they place it in the 80-100th range of the 128 contenders
I'm considering, which is going to make it very hard to climb out of
the bottom few seeds no matter how many noms they pull down. --- thengamer.com/guru/ says we just got owned hard by FastFalcon! (thengamer.com/xstats & board8.wikia.com are neat) |

I very much doubt Super Mario World will miss the bracket - it is the
best selling game for the SNES, and almost as loved as SMB3. Most like scenario with a series cap is that Yoshi's Island and SMW still both make it, with Bacon counting YI as a separate series. |

I very much doubt Super Mario World will miss the bracket - it is
the best selling game for the SNES, and almost as loved as SMB3. FF8 missed it due to series caps. Yoshi's Island is very much a Mario game, but if Bacon wanted to, he
could count it as something separate, just because Super Mario World
missing out on a "Best Game Ever" contest is pretty crazy. Then again,
it depends on what the series cap actually is - if it's four or five
entries per series, Mario World and Yoshi's Island will both make it no

Plus, once noms get on the front page, I think World will safely have
more nominations than Yoshi's Island. We already have 30k nominations

I think the cap will be 5. Nothing besides Mario/Zelda/FF could get more than 5 games in anyway, and with that... SM64 SMB3 SMW SMW2 SMG FF6 FF7 FF8 FF9 FF10 OoT MM WW TP LA or LoZ It's a pretty good cutoff line. --- FastFalcon believed in Snake. I didn't. |

Darn it Fayt, you're not allowed to ask that question if you're going
to visit the entire topic I've created devoted to finding the answer. http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genmessage.php?board=8&topic=46919575 But to answer you anyways, there's almost 0 chance of something not named OoT being the top seed, if SB actually follows through with his ranking formula.
