Some Common Stat Topic Lingo Defined*~ SFF (Same Fanbase Factor) - Same Fanbase Factor is the theory that, if two contestants share a common fanbase, the weaker of the two options will underperform in a direct matchup. For instance, Link was expected to defeat Ganon with 65% of the vote in 2004, based on their 2003 values. Instead, Link collected near 88% of the vote, because the Zelda fanbase so clearly sided with him. However, take some SFF labels with a grain of salt, as many people will slap it onto any match that doesn't make total sense. This has caused a few SFF jokes, with LordOfDabu's "Some Frivolous Factor" being the funniest of them. X-Stats - Short form of Extrapolated Statistics, aka the mathematical "strength" of a contestant that can be determined based on their performance in any given matchup. See above for a detailed explanation of the x-stat process. rSFF (Reverse Same Fanbase Factor): An unproven theory that states that an SFF match will feature the expected weaker character receiving more benefit from SFF than the stronger character. For example, all evidence supports Samus being indirectly stronger than Mario, yet Mario blew Samus away during their 2005 match. That's rSFF in action, and the one case we have of the weaker statistical character winning with it. For other information, surf the contest sites a bit. | Something I figured I'd chime in from the last
topic - I can't help but feel like FFVII is still a huge, huge favorite
to win this thing. OoT has an outside chance, but unless something
crazy happens, I'm not taking it. I feel like a lot of people are on
edge about FFVII just because of what happened to Cloud a few weeks
ago, but I wouldn't even take that into consideration here. There isn't
much reason to believe we'd see the same result back in 2k4. Maybe a

I think FF7 is still the favorite to win, but I'm also thinking that it'll be even more anti-voted than usual. --- Isaac and Princess Kumatora for SSB4! SSBB Mains: Zelda, Peach, Lucas, Ness FastFalcon sure showed us his moves in the Guru Contest! |

WoW > DKC2 I used to believe in DKC, but seeing Diddy just completely job like that really shakes my faith. And WoW is less hated here than Halo was back in the day, and more people play WoW than played Halo 4 years ago. Mega Man 2 seems like a wildcard to me, and it really shouldn't. Mega Man is a Noble Niner, and both Classic and X did great in the series contest. But I can't shake this feeling that it is going to disappoint us. --- Like Darth Maul, the bastard child of Michael Flatley and Hellboy. -trancer1 FastFalcon is apparantly better at contesty stuff than me. |

Being less hated than Halo isn't much of a feat. Remember, MC almost
lost to Felix of all characters in his first contest. Weak as DKC2 may

FFVII doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell. Like it or not, what
happened to Cloud is incredibly important. Notice how, during the
on-season, there were more topics complaining about how much
Cloud/FFVII wins, but not as many as Link. You're ****ing blind if you

Probably 4 with Tifa. Hell even Zack isnt all that far away. The very
weakest FF7 character that we've ever seen is still stronger than the
vast majority of the competition. it's the single biggest powerhouse

Final Fantasy VII is still winning this thing. Link beat Cloud the same
year and AFTER FFVII won. And FFVII still won that Top Ten Games
Contest (and that was AFTER The Nintendo Boost, mind you. CT still beat

there is no solid basis for either one beating the other besides the
Game Contest. Game Contest vs. Nintendo Boost -- that's what this is,
not Cloud vs. Link, not Zelda vs. Final Fantasy, not Vincent vs.

Before the last character battle I would have taken OoT > FFVII,
though now I've changed my mind and unless Nintendo pulls a rabbit out

Tran's got the right idea with this one. Link vs. Cloud, Zelda vs.
Final Fantasy, Lists - these aren't the indicators to use to determine
what happens in a rematch. Either one has a great shot at winning, but
it comes down to how much you think Nintendo's presence here has
changed since 2004 - and given how the rest of that year went, I'm
inclined to believe that even with whatever 'de-boost' you want to
knock them with, they're still a lot stronger as a whole, characters
included, than they were back in 2k4. We've got double the votes, a far
more Nintendo-centric site and less of a Square presence. You can make
