Some Common Stat Topic Lingo Defined*~ SFF (Same Fanbase Factor) - Same Fanbase Factor is the theory that, if two contestants share a common fanbase, the weaker of the two options will underperform in a direct matchup. For instance, Link was expected to defeat Ganon with 65% of the vote in 2004, based on their 2003 values. Instead, Link collected near 88% of the vote, because the Zelda fanbase so clearly sided with him. However, take some SFF labels with a grain of salt, as many people will slap it onto any match that doesn't make total sense. This has caused a few SFF jokes, with LordOfDabu's "Some Frivolous Factor" being the funniest of them. X-Stats - Short form of Extrapolated Statistics, aka the mathematical "strength" of a contestant that can be determined based on their performance in any given matchup. See above for a detailed explanation of the x-stat process. rSFF (Reverse Same Fanbase Factor): An unproven theory that states that an SFF match will feature the expected weaker character receiving more benefit from SFF than the stronger character. For example, all evidence supports Samus being indirectly stronger than Mario, yet Mario blew Samus away during their 2005 match. That's rSFF in action, and the one case we have of the weaker statistical character winning with it. For other information, surf the contest sites a bit. I'll take SC > WoW and LoZ:TP >> LoZ:WW, and previous
polls/lists on GameFAQs would support this. WoW would have to rally

Think I'd go... Twilight Princess Super Smash Bros. Brawl Final Fantasy VIII (small gap) Super Mario Galaxy Resident Evil 4 (small gap) Metal Gear Solid 4 (decent gap) Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Grand Theft Auto IV But anything between those gaps could move around freely. --- thengamer.com/guru/ says we just got owned hard by FastFalcon! I don't care how much rallying power WoW has, unless it flat out
CHEATS, it's not beating Twilight Princess. It's much stronger than

I'd take WoW > SC and TP > WW. I really don't even see how SC
could come close to touching WoW... which is saying a lot given how
well SC did last contest. Maybe I'm just being stupid because I know
absolutely nothing about SC, and would have never heard anything about
it if I didn't come to GFaqs, but WoW just seems to be everything SC is
except bigger. I don't even want to see what kind of rallying power

From the last topic Why not? I mean I'd have to say TP would be the favorite, but the rallying power of Blizzard around a game or namesake is quite astounding. WoW probably pulls off the largest rally of all time to beat whatever
mid-level game it gets in the first round, then gets destroyed by

Starcraft has about 2-3 million regular players still and prolly about
that amount at 2k4 times, too. WoW has about 4 times that, and we saw
how much rallying power Starcraft had.... quadrouple the fanbase to go

I've already pretty much decided that I'm going to take WoW way too far
and hope it works out. Figure I don't have much of a shot at winning it
without a pretty decent upset going deep into the contest, and what

floating around here that has something like 15% of this site playing
the game when there 10 million subscribers or something. StarCraft had
some rallying to win matches, but it'd have legit strength without it,

Yeah, it's pretty damn unfair to compare how WoW would do in a games
contest with Warcraft/Mario. I guarantee WoW would do better against
any single Mario game in a 1v1 than Warcraft did against Mario in the

Also I looked up that poll, and it was November 17th, 2007. With Wotlk
just out, the WoW userbase is bigger then ever, over 11 million now,
and I'm sure theres more people here playing now then during that poll
due to Xpac just coming out (the xpacs always draw old players back),

Also, you have to love the huge amount of support PW gets every
contest. 27 nominations by Page 3, second only to the Guru pick? He

Why not? No one thought Starcraft could beat Wind Waker... it's not
unreasonable to think WoW could beat TP. WoW has the potential to be
stronger than SC, and TP has the potential to be weaker than WW. Not
that I particularly believe both of those, specifically the latter, but
