Some Common Stat Topic Lingo Defined*~ SFF (Same Fanbase Factor) - Same Fanbase Factor is the theory that, if two contestants share a common fanbase, the weaker of the two options will underperform in a direct matchup. For instance, Link was expected to defeat Ganon with 65% of the vote in 2004, based on their 2003 values. Instead, Link collected near 88% of the vote, because the Zelda fanbase so clearly sided with him. However, take some SFF labels with a grain of salt, as many people will slap it onto any match that doesn't make total sense. This has caused a few SFF jokes, with LordOfDabu's "Some Frivolous Factor" being the funniest of them. X-Stats - Short form of Extrapolated Statistics, aka the mathematical "strength" of a contestant that can be determined based on their performance in any given matchup. See above for a detailed explanation of the x-stat process. rSFF (Reverse Same Fanbase Factor): An unproven theory that states that an SFF match will feature the expected weaker character receiving more benefit from SFF than the stronger character. For example, all evidence supports Samus being indirectly stronger than Mario, yet Mario blew Samus away during their 2005 match. That's rSFF in action, and the one case we have of the weaker statistical character winning with it. For other information, surf the contest sites a bit. They have everything. --- FastFalcon is in my sig. How can this be. http://www.rosebride.com/lyn/otakon2k6/chronotrigger.jpg |

CD-I/Toon might be a match. Young Link is just going to get beat down more. He's yet to have an update of 9%. He's not going to be competing. Curious to see if Link can triple all the others combined in an update at some point today. --- That'd be impressive. |

The morning should be the worst time for CD-I Link, since it was
L-Block's and WCC's worst time too. That was when Ryu made a comeback
on L-Block and started building up a big lead on him. That was also
when Mega Man made a comeback on WCC and took the lead. --- Luster Soldier - Popular at school. ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ |

Snake leads Link for most of the night, but it's basically over from there. Crono doesn't do much of anything, obviously, but he basically goes up and down a percent or two throughout. I don't mind Squall being adjusted, but I don't know how fair it is to
start him over Auron. Squall couldn't beat Sonic twice last year while
Auron did it his first time this year. I would also personally take
Tifa > Sora, so when I see Squall barely outdid Sora while Tifa
barely outdid Auron against Sephiroth...I think Squall/Auron are
statistically equal/close, but I don't think anything really says
Squall > Auron based on what happened this year. Splitting hairs, but I wouldn't want to see Squall higher than equal to Auron...which is still damn good and only a little lower. --- NRT winners: Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow, Star Fox 64, Donkey Kong Country 2 Remember these games! |

True enough on the stats, and I'll agree Sonic would have beaten Auron
in R3 last year if he were in Squall's place...but in R4, he may have
stolen it if Solid/Squall hurt each other; Auron's more removed from
Solid's prime than Squall due to both time and console. Hard to say
though. --- NRT winners: Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow, Star Fox 64, Donkey Kong Country 2 Remember these games! |

Auron's more removed from Solid's prime than Squall due to both time and console. Uhhh...Weren't MGS2 and FFX released within a few months of each other? --- FastFalcon is without a doubt the best Guru I've ever heard of, savvy? http://qirien.icecavern.net/final_fantasy/icons/squall_bunnysuit.gif |

No, I meant Cloud's now shadowy win over Link. Cloud needed insane picture advantage, and L-Block needed the entirety of the Internet! http://beatme101.com/images/CD-i%20Link.jpg --- Yoblazer: NO LIMITZ Watch and you'll see... FastFalcon own me... in the Guru Contest! |

Insane pic advantage? Psh, maybe if it were the sprite round! We know that's where Magus worked his voodoo! --- FastFalcon is without a doubt the best Guru I've ever heard of, savvy? http://qirien.icecavern.net/final_fantasy/icons/squall_bunnysuit.gif |

I could come up with 2 reasons why Classic Link is overperforming: 1. The Classic Link option just happens to be the first one. For most voters who aren't sure who to vote, they'll probably pick the first option. 2. The match picture plays a role here. For Classic Link's picture, it says "Link" below it rather than "Classic". That probably draws most voters to vote for Classic Link as if it were the real Link. I bet if it said "Classic" below it instead, the blowout might not be as big. --- Luster Soldier - Popular at school. ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ |

I don't think it does- Young Link and Toon Link are getting SFF'd hard,
but what would you expect? This is the most severe fanbase overlap
we've ever seen- the same character. Either of them would beat Cloud in
a poll tomorrow. If anything anti-champion voting has been shown to be
a legit factor, although Link had plenty of reason to boost from 2003
to 2004. It'd be nice if my reasoning (anti-champion voting) for taking
Cloud > Link in 2003 was actually correct though! --- Congratulations to Crono for making his first true finals match, your 5 time contest champion, Link, and the Guru Champion FastFalcon |

In that case, I agree, this match has little bearing on 2k3. It does
show that Toon Link is weaker than regular Link when paired against
each other, but indirectly against Cloud, this match proves nothing in
that regard. Although I do agree normal Link vs Cloud in 2k3, Link wins. --- "Your daddy was quite the warrior. Do you measure up to him?" "I don't know. I didn't bring my ruler." |
