even with that pretty nice gain, it's like Mario only gained 5 per
update the last two... which is what his pace has pretty much been.

Except... you're completely wrong. On all accounts. MM was much,
much stronger back then. He performed like absolute **** against Link.
The only two possible explanations for that is A) it was an anomaly, or
B) he shares a fanbase. Then Zero underperforms big time against Mario
the next year. You could consider it another random anomaly if you
wish. Finally, in a match that Zero was supposed to win convincingly (I
think most people had him beating Luigi with 55% or so), he went on to
lose by the margin. Another anomaly featuring MM/Nintendo! Or, you
could take the easy answer and say that the fanbases are similar enough
that substantial SFF is seen in their matches. Also explains the
MM/Yoshi match too. Or MM was overrated to begin with. Zero putting 46% on Luigi would be him overperforming these days and the fact that it was unexpected then is a testament to him being overrated rather than a giant instant drop. Same with MM v Link, he'd be lucky to even get 32% on an undebated source like Cloud these days. It's incredible how people will come up with excuse after excuse for every MM failing. You also failed to explain that if MM get SFF then does the likes of Kefka too? How about Sub-Zero to Sonic? --- Look right through me, Look right through me. |

Much as i hate to say it i have to agree, Mario is rising a bit too
fast for Zack to have a shot with the snv. An hour into the asv and
he's already increased his lead by almost a hundred. There's still 6
hours left until the snv starts, and much as i hate to say it i don't
think Zack can make up 1000 votes in 2 hours. --- Vote for change in '08. Vote for Samus Aran. Yes we can! |

favorite, but Zack is limiting Mario to an average of 5 votes per
update right now. That's 60 votes an hour. Not insurmountable by any

There's a lull from 8-10 I thought that might be the case, but i'm usually at work at that time so i've never analyzed voting trends then. We should have a term for those 2 hours then. Zack led for a couple of hours at the most. Link is really dominating right now, and X is dying. Again, if Samus with Ganon can beat Vincent by himself, Samus with Pikachu shouldn't lose to Vincent with Crono. Remember Pokemon/Metroid? (Okay, I know this is a bad example because Zelda destroyed Metroid the next round, but still!) Seriously though, Pokemon (or at least Pikachu) has shown itself to be pretty SFF resistant. If Pikachu LFFs Samus instead of getting SFF'd, then Vincent's got a shot. Crono/Vincent LFF should be minor....about the same magnitude as
Crono/Link LFF, I say. Pokemon have been strange enough that I'm
hesitant to say Crono or Vincent have no chance of taking first from

Crono vs Vincent will be pretty similar to last year, except that this

Seriously though, Pokemon (or at least Pikachu) has shown itself to
be pretty SFF resistant. If Pikachu LFFs Samus instead of getting
SFF'd, then Vincent's got a shot. I'd say Pikachu gives him a better
shot than Ganondorf does, really. No. Samus went 60/40 on Ganon in 2005, and it was generally agreed there was no SFF. She got 67% on Ganon last round. Even if Pikachu doesn't get SFF'd and retains his proportional strength to Samus, Ganon being far stronger than him would make up for the discrepancy. AND now Vincent has to deal with Crono rather than Gordon. I'm not convinced of any significant Crono/Vincent, but it sure as hell would beat out Vincent/Gordon overlap. I still buy my explanation for Pikachu's performance last year, which
takes all the weird out of it. Then this year attribute it to L. His
wacky performances have been situational, and I see nothing to show
that he'll do that tomorrow. I'd venture to say the weirdest thing we'd
see is Crono/Vincent/Pikachu hurting each other for all sharing the RPG
fanbase. I'd bet my entire life savings that Samus finishes first
