Still, it's not telling people to specifically vote Mega Man, so it doesn't seem like it should be counted as a rally for him. >_<

Why would you want to ruin the contests with awfully weak blizzard characters? Rallying is one thing, but doing it for nominations is another. Granted they'd actually have to go through the trouble of creating accounts, so it probably wouldn't be as successful, but there's no enjoyment in half the field being pathetically weak.

Having all these weak nintendo characters is no different, really. At least gives a bit more variety, no? Or are you thinking weaklings like Lucas and Pit are somehow better then some weaker characters from another company/fanbase?

Which, unless he was up against a very weak niche character, wouldn't be enough to contend in a match. Hogger and the other WoW guys are pointless for a 1v1 format, and after the egg Arthas just laid, the only Blizzard character we should try to bring back is Diablo.

The problem with trying to get a bunch of Blizzard characters in and using the justification "but there are so many weak Nintendo characters!" is that it might not be the weak ass Nintendo characters that get replaced. Then you get even more bottom feeding fodder.

You may not be worse than the ones who nominate that crap en masse, but you'd still be part of the problem.

Most of these weak Nintendo characters won't be back in a field of 64.

The only problem with a field of 64 is that we're either going to get no new characters or a lot of snubs. As much as the board doesn't wants to we'll probably see a 128 character bracket just to keep things fresh.

2k3, 2k5, and 2k6 were all remarkably fresh brackets despite being 64 characters - hell, 2k6 may as well have been a 32 character bracket. We are not dependent in the slightest on 128 character brackets. To suggest otherwise is to cling to a crutch.

128 1v1 contest would suck
4-ways suck.

I see no way that 128 character contest could be a good thing. I can deal with snubs//lack of a lot of new blood if need be. Chances are if you're new and worth half a piss, you're going to make the contest thanks to the recency of whatever game you just starred in. I can deal with Kefka or Diablo or Yuna not making a contest if it's actually filled with quality characters, and an interesting bracket set-up.

Now we have too many characters we know have proven strength that we'd have to leave quite a few proven characters out of a 64 field bracket, and don't even consdier trying to get new characters in. Plus alot of fodder will likely get in and knock out characters like Knuckles and Magus again

I disagree. If we get a field of 64 next year, I find it hard to believe that we'd need over a dozen new faces just to keep things fresh, especially when we've seen dozens of new characters in the past two years, alone. Really, who would be a good addition? Unless we try to get the whole FFVII cast or Dark Link/Dark Samus in here, I can't find anyone who'd be worth anything.

Talking out of your ass here. The vast majority of new characters are stuck in unwinnable positions, too. Take all the new characters in the 2k5 bracket that weren't 7 or 8 seeds, and you have a grand total of NINE characters.

2004 was called one of the worst contests because a) bracket placement and b) lack of new faces. While the next field of 64 could be interesting because it will have been three years since we've used that format the following years it will get increasingly more boring as we run out of useable characters and there are less factors to worry about. If Bacon bans joke characters (objects) next year then I will be happy.

But they're not all unwinnable low midcarders. We're already seeing the likes of Kain Argomar (not even gonna bother to check the spelling!) and Nathan Drake over characters like Rikku, Yuna, and Aeries. And it still begs the question: which new faces? The only ones I'm thinking of are big Final Fantasy names (from VII, most likely), or Dark Link/Samus.
